Have you actually had Snows or Kreuz or Franklins? If not then you don't know what good brisket is anyways.

Stick to your $1000 tab restaurants.

get there early and buy the chipotle sausage and beef ribs before they sell out.
make sure to always get fatty brisket.

I like Salt Lick, I even like the County line. Their brisket isn't good, but they have great turkey, ribs and pork. Plus it's a nice sit down change of pace with good service and sides.

which BBQ place to go to just depends on my mood.

The Luling City Market on Richmond is not very good. The original is amazing, one of the best in Texas. Brisket House on Woodway is pretty good, though.

County Line is where I draw the line. I've had nothing but crap there. Their sauce is horrible...but you need it. I don't understand the infatuation with it other than the location(s).

Rudy's has lost some of it's luster for me. I'm fine with success and growth and all...but you have to at least attempt to maintain your quality at the store level and, to me, they're doing a poor job of it. I prefer Smokey Moe's lately. They just seem to do a better and more consistent job no matter which location you go to.

Luling City Market is great. One of my favorite local BBQ joints. Love the sauce. Good brisket, great sausage, ribs not so good.

Of course City Market in Luling is better. It's one of the most famous BBQ joints in Texas.

Anyone been to It's Ribs, on Jones Rd. & 1960? I've heard great things about that place too.

never understood the hate for luling city market on richmond... brisket, ribs and sausage are routinely good and the sauce is decent. may not be as good as the original (duh) but it's far from bad and easily some of the best inside the loop. biggest gripe i have w it is that they're pretty damn pricey. i think the real foodie snobs take some sort of umbrage that there's no real relation between the original city market and this place.

with that said, gatlins is way better imo.

Snow's is breakfast. lol. Unless they bumped up the quantity, they start running out around 10am-noon.

There's actually a (true) legend associated with Luling City Market in Houston. They started the place by taking a pit boss from the "real" Luling City Market in Luling and hence got some of the recipes, traditions, etc. from the original. In reality, the two places have nothing to do with one another. It's not "another location" of the one in Luling.... it's a... facsimile. :) The one in Houston gets average to above average reviews from bbq critics. The one in Luling, of course, is legendary.
