Why does every mock draft for 2012 have the Rickets taking a PF? That is our deepest dosition. Why not a center, SG or SF?
Mock drafts at this point are more like prospect rankings. Once the season is over (or some after the lottery), do they start ranking by need.
This draft is deep at PF and the Rockets are only slightly above average at the PF position. Plus, if the Rockets keep losing to teams like Memphis they will have 2 first round picks to work with.
2011 - picked 3 PFs with our 3 picks 2010 - picked 1 PF with our 1 pick 2009 - picked 0 PFs with our 3 picks 2008 - picked 2 PFs with our 3 picks So 6 of the last 10 picks the Rockets have used were spent on PFs. And of those 6, only 3 are still on the team with only 2 in the rotation. You'd think we'd be set there but I think we will pick the best player available and most likely that will be another PF.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Houston_Rockets_first_and_second_round_draft_picks That's the Rockets move...draft a tweener and move them from the position they played in college because they aren't a NBA natural at that position.
1) you pick the best player available no matter of the positon 2) the moment Luis Scola gets traded...pf might not be our deepest positon
Thing is, DMo might just be what the doctor ordered for our future 4. Or not. If we load up even more at 4 before he can get here, he might just decide to stay overseas, or force us to trade his rights to another team. BUT if we land a high pick and can get a really good 4, go for it. Scola looks like a rail handcar ("Dern it! That was close. Almost lost a $400 handcar!" --Blazing Saddles) out there amongst Maseratis. PPat is good but is he great? Because we need great.
