rhadamanthus have you listened to any of The Roots music? They would change your perception and keep you from making blanket statements which frankly are quite ignorant
Edit: Young Money (Lil Wayne lil rap group) is dumb. From himself to Minaj to this, they're all garbage.
It's not ignorant when he says that the MAJORITY of rap caters to the lowest common denominator, and brings zero intrinsic value to the listener. You listed one group that doesn't do that.....I can list you 100 that DO. Every genre has its artists who are soulful, deep, and can be classified as visionaries. And how many of those people have the following of Young Money, or Nikki Minaj, or Wiz Khalifa? It's the reality of the industry, plain and simple.
not really relevant but since wiz khalifa has been mentioned... anyone else find it absolutely hilarious that microsoft is using him to market bing? i mean thats the best they could come up with? a dude that does nothing but talk about weed.
Drake Wayne Tyga this is the jam <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/BYDKK95cpfM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
^ Why is he wearing receiver gloves? lol.. The beat to motto is catchy, Lil Wayne spitting some of the worst lyrics known to man.
yeah, lil wayne almost ruins it and i don't know about the glove. but drake is like "ice cold pimpin all the girls wanna chill" i love it
the reason they alter styles to be popular will ALWAYS EXIST which is why the radio will never play the good stuff! I don't give a damn about what's popular, people with musical taste shouldn't and he did say "rap is dumb" without saying, well except for those artists that don't sell out to make corporate dollars
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Dbz15OsJlVU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> this is another example of rap with musical value

Lol the Hip-Hop taste on this forum is terrible. Tyga's music and that stuff is great for parties. I enjoy this kind of stuff to party to. But there's plenty of good hip-hop music today from newer rappers. This new generation is bringing back some hip-hop with meaning and feeling. And someone mentioned earlier, of course they don't have the same sort of following, but I think they can get back there. Here's a few "new school" rappers and some of their work to check out: Childish Gambino - Camp <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qL1B_r9nC9k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://youtu.be/qL1B_r9nC9k Kendrick Lamar - Section.80 <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/yh6QxtRpSH8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://youtu.be/yh6QxtRpSH8 XV - Zero Heroes <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/pn8XU0DcMMQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://youtu.be/pn8XU0DcMMQ A$AP Rocky - LiveLoveA$AP <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ob3ktDxAjWI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ob3ktDxAjWI David Dallas - The Rose Tint <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/lZheYLYgGmQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZheYLYgGmQ There's good and bad music in every genre. Just gotta find it.
Rap went to a totally different direction then from what i remembered it. Most new rappers nowadays talk about B!tches and hoes and how they all line up to meet them, but in their ideos they gotta pay to have hoes lined up for them. Ironic ?
whatever, i'll stick to my soulful hip-hop its more than just music. it's unfortunate music has been reduced to what it is in today's "culture" now it's just entertainment....it used to mean something
