Well, bigtexxx offended his waiter at the sushi restaurant by asking if he was proud of his fellow countryman Jeremy Lin.

Then why are you wondering if Japan is going to invite him to play for their Olympic team?

And with every desperate thread filled with this thinly veiled contempt for their fellow man the moral and intellectual bankruptcy of the extremists becomes more clearly defined.

Progress? Resorting to Tricky Dick's southern strategy seems like turning back the clock.

But let's not stop there, I think I see bigtex, Rocket, and basso flanking the Governor...

I doubt I can explain anything to someone who has so little knowledge of history.

In most cases affirmative action is voluntary. There are incentives but it isn't mandated unless companies have a proven track record of discrimination. So a lot of the whining isn't necessary. Also nobody has ever shown a case on the board of someone who wasn't qualified being hired because of Affirmative action, or a white person being kept out of a job because of it.

I think people's fear of affirmative action is much greater than what affirmative action actually is, and they may act irrationally to accommodate what they believe affirmative action is.

Also, currently, most "affirmative action plans" are more correctly identified as "diversity plans" where there are no quotas, nor preferences, but targeted recruiting and outreach to balance racial diversity within the workforce.

State agencies maintain statistics on the racial makeup of the workforce and seek to maintain a balance with the makeup of the general population. What this might entail is that the next job drive be presented in a predominantly minority portion of town.

Where there is an imbalance in one particular EEO-code category of the workforce it may require that this vacancy posting be tagged as a "hiring need" for an under represented minority group. There is no mandate to hire.

I'm going to say.....not very wide spread. Considering that Obama lost almost every state with a high AA population...I would say that the AA vote had little to no effect on his election.....but that is to be expected when we are talking about 12% of a population.

I feel so sad for your students Mr Blade, they truly are less fortunate to have an idiot disguised as a teacher!

If there have been nothing but black presidents up until now, and there finally was a white candidate I would vote for the white guy.
