Is it a for sure thing that Shaub will even be healthy for next season? I remember when it happened, people were saying it could take longer than a full year to fully heal.
They should look into it but I doubt the Texans will make the call. With Peyton they are the clear cut favorites for the next 2 years. His injury status is pretty unknown but I'm sure he will be cleared by numerous doctors by whomever he plays for... It's easy to see why he would be interested here really not a suprise. If the texans show interest then I will be suprised..
The problem here is I think the Texans would have to make a decision to either go with Peyton or not WAY before they could be certain that he would have recovered enough to really be an effective thrower again. That's a huge risk and one I'm sure the team would be unwilling to take. If they trade away Schaub, sign Peyton and he can't hack it...you're looking at an entire season with TJ Yates helming at QB.
And so does his two time Super Bowl champion little brother.... That being said I doubt this happens, it would be great addition to an already solid team, but it will never happen.
If somebody would take a sledgehammer to Matt Schaub's foot it would make this soo much easier. (don't worry, I'm sure he's got insurance)
Exactly. FYI, I'd be ALL OVER this if he was healthy. It's just that I don't think he is. Frankly, I don't think he'll even be suited up for any team come opening day. This is like Tony Boselli all over again. I can't figure out why so many seemingly smart posters are falling for it.

No. Don't do it. The Texans are closer with Matt Schaub at quarterback than they would be if we traded Schaub away, got a semi-healthy Peyton Manning, and screwed with Kubiak's system. Matt Schaub, like it or not, is the best quarterback in the NFL to run our system. The grasp that he has for Kubiak's offense is severely underrated, in my opinion. Another good draft year, coupled with retaining most of our free agents, and this team is legit, when healthy. We made a little noise last year, with injuries. Let's see what a healthy Texans team can do.
Manning's neck injury is no different than what Chris Weinke had over a decade ago, and he came back to win a Heisman Trophy and play in the NFL. His neck, by all accounts, is fine and isn't a major re-injury risk. What it comes down to is whether he can regenerate the nerves in his throwing arm. So far, that hasn't completely happened. But if that eventually happens - and there is precedent for it (Weinke) - he should be fine.
