If Mario Williams doesn't resign who moves from the bench into a starting role at OLB? Brooks Reed...that is why the comparison.
only receivers I'd want enough to get rid of Mario would be Vincent Jackson and possibly Reggie Wayne.
Letting MW go is more about re-signing Foster/ Myers and if they're lucky a Patrick Crayton WR in FA. Would y'all like to keep MW if it meant letting go of Foster or Myers? For me the answer is a resounding no. A no brainer really. You can draft depth if you let MW walk. Just like pass rusher dont grow on trees. Neither does OL continuity of which Myers is their leader. Or RB's like Foster, who's this generations Terrell Davis. IMHO
http://twitter.com/intent/user?screen_name=adbrandt adbrandt Andrew Brandt Will be 120% of his 13.8M salary last yr. RT @adilmomin786 will Texans sign Mario Williams? What's the Franchise number?
Well you can let go of Winston and should be able to get both(not really sure about that but I think Winston is making some serious money). I already know I will get backlash for that but Winston is not all that great. In fact with out Briazel by his side he looked horrible.
I've heard three figures. 120% of his cap hit from 2011. 120% of his salary from 2012. And this weird $22 MM number. My guess is it is 120% of salary, in which case, I'm perfectly fine with franchising him.
Wrong thread. Oh well. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/14/texans-face-tough-decision-with-foster/
While he might not be a great pass blocker he's an excellent run blocker which contributes to Foster's success. At 4.5 million he's an excellent value. I agree with you on Walters and Jones however and I think the Texans could cut both. Along with restructure D. Ryans contract. My bigger concern is if we sign Mario will we be able to sign Duane Brown next season which is a much higher priority.
Supposedly, the cap is going to go up a lot next offseason. They should be able to re-sign any free agent they really want for 2013.
