I kinda like Rudy Gay better because he's black, so he looks cooler than KVH. Borderline superstar material. Not that interested in "stats", sorry.
Sam you inspired me, I'm now committed to a WWKVHD? For all decisions in my life, as such I'm having bagels for breakfast
he reminds me a lot of former grizzlies coach brian winters...as a player. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/wintebr01.html Code: Season Age Tm League Gm MP PER TS% eFG% ORB% DRB% TRB% AST% STL% BLK% TOV% USG% ORtg DRtg OWS DWS WS WS/48 1974-75 22 LAL NBA 68 1516 14.7 .467 .443 2.5 6.2 4.4 20.7 2.2 0.6 102 0.4 0.7 1.1 .035 1975-76 23 MIL NBA 78 2795 16.1 .496 .464 2.5 6.6 4.6 20.1 2.1 0.5 101 3.1 1.9 5.0 .085 1976-77 24 MIL NBA 78 2717 16.6 .533 .498 2.4 6.4 4.4 18.0 1.9 0.5 105 5.2 0.8 6.0 .106 1977-78 25 MIL NBA 80 2751 16.4 .503 .463 3.3 6.4 4.8 20.2 2.0 0.5 13.0 25.1 101 105 3.7 1.4 5.1 .089 1978-79 26 MIL NBA 79 2575 15.6 .533 .493 2.1 5.5 3.8 20.5 1.5 0.8 14.9 26.0 102 108 2.7 1.5 4.2 .078 1979-80 27 MIL NBA 80 2623 14.8 .534 .496 2.0 7.0 4.6 19.0 1.8 0.6 13.3 21.1 108 106 3.6 2.6 6.2 .113 1980-81 28 MIL NBA 69 1771 12.5 .528 .488 2.1 6.6 4.4 17.1 1.8 0.3 15.2 19.8 105 105 1.6 1.9 3.5 .095 1981-82 29 MIL NBA 61 1829 15.8 .553 .524 3.3 7.2 5.3 20.5 1.5 0.3 11.9 22.3 112 106 3.3 2.2 5.5 .144 1982-83 30 MIL NBA 57 1361 12.1 .484 .453 3.0 5.8 4.4 16.6 1.6 0.2 11.5 21.4 101 105 0.7 1.4 2.1 .074 Career NBA 650 19938 15.2 .516 .481 2.6 6.4 4.5 19.3 1.8 0.5 13.5 23.0 105 105 24.3 14.3 38.6 .093 note the hefty scoring, the mediocre efficiency, the durability, the consistency from year to year, the strict commitment to averageness for so many straight seasons, slightly above in PER, slight below in WS/48. gay wasn't quite the passer the former grizzlies coach was, but no one's perfect.
Except your sample size is for bench players over 5000 minutes and mine is for starters for 4.5 years and over 13,000 minutes. So...they're basically the exact same sample size...if you multiplied yours by 2.75. Let's increase Nash's sample size to match Van Horn/Gay's, shall we? Ooops.....
I suggest you ignore Sam and f4p. They just don't get how good Rudy Gay really is. Some things are meant to be understood by only a few of us.
Both are/were above-average, high-quality players. I do think that Van Horn needed to dominate the ball more so than Gay in order to be successful. Gay, to me, seems like he could function well as either the main star or a second option on a winning team. Plus, with Gay there is still some upside -- perhaps he has not yet reached his true potential? So, with all that taken into consideration, I voted for Gay.
Definitely possible, but he's in his 6th season, and his production is the definition of a plateau. Big improvement in year 2...then flatline...He's actually regressed slightly from his 2nd season in terms of productivity...so there's some room there, but he's been at this stage for a long time. Guess who else showed great improvement in his second season, and then plateaued or arguably regressed slightly for the next 4 years. HInt - his surname rhymes with "Scan p*rn"
you made the cardinal error in this thread: objectivity. that's why up there: ^^ in that post above mine this guy samfisher is clubbing your objectivity into the ground. he tried for a second to consider your point: by the end: HInt - his surname rhymes with "Scan p*rn"
