I am not convinced we would hang on to Gasol long term if we got him. I think he would fit here great with all the high post skills he has. However, if we could acquire him for Martin/Scola package (doubtful), then that leaves the door open for Gasol/Lowry/Patterson/expirings for Dwight.
I don't understand the dislike for Gasol on this board. He's 21 and 10 and makes 51% of his shots. He has good defensive numbers per 82games.com. He can probably help attract other free agents, could give us a little-big combo with Lowry and Gasol, and can play spot minutes at C. Giving up Martin and Scola for him would be a nobrainer, IMHO.
Gasol would be a lot better player without Kobe than with Kobe. His usage rate would go up and his effectiveness running a high post offense would be tremendous. Gasol is far from done. And playing with Kobe ain't real fun, as Bird suggested. Kobe wants a bunch of guys doing dirty work while he fires up 40 shots a night. Gasol doesn't look as good as he really is in that style. Gasol is a Rockets-move the ball type player. He would excel here.
Agreed. Jopatmc is killing it in this thread. If you can get Pau for some kind of Martin/Scola package, it is a huge win by Daryl Morey for multiple reasons. It opens up the possibility of trading for something special.
I dunno how we can obtain Pau with a one on one trade with the Lakers..it would be a 3-way again for sure...and Minny could be that team...i'm optimistic that Adelman would be reunited with his son --> K-Mart
what exactly is so special about derrick williams? i don't follow him closely. what makes him so desireable?
I don't understand why Morey would still be hot & heavy over Gasol when acquiring him now doesn't lead to Nene signing as a free agent.
Patterson is a better player and Morris would also be a better player should we choose to put him at the 4. Motiejunas could easily be better than all three. We have no reason to go after Derrick Williams in a Kevin Martin trade.
Kobe is far from dumb. He's doing his darndest on the court to convince Mitch to give up both Bynum and Gasol for Dwight. He is intentionally jacking and going outside the scope of their offense to solo. It's so obvious. It's not dumb though. Kobe wants his Dwight.
If the Rockets by any chance land Gasol, would we have enough cap space to make a run at Howard and/or D-Will? Sorry if it's been asked before.
Im not sure about the answer to that but i do know if howard gets traded to somewhere else besides the nets we are very likely to dwill, thing is he wouldn't resign...thats why we should also trade for gasol.
Now i know a trade for gasol sounds ****ty but if it leads you to another allstar then its something you haft to think about... L.A- P.Gasol & S.Blake + TPE + 2012 First Round Pick HOU- K.Lowry, L.Scola & H.Thabeet If you have that trade done you have the perfect assets to trade for another allstar. So after that trade you can do a trade for...lets say deron williams N.J- D.Williams & A.Morrow HOU- K.Martin, G.Dragic, P.Patterson & J.Flynn + TPE + Knicks & L.A's 2012 Picks Houston Rockets new team: D.Williams-S.Blake C.Lee-A.Morrow C.Parsons-C.Budinger P.Gasol-J.Hill-C.Parsons...If M.Morris is ready he can easily fill in here S.Dalembert-J.Hill Thats looks like a improved team to me and its definitely do-able, we would easily have the best offer for D.Will, only problem would be if D.Howard doesn't get traded before the deadline i don't see N.J parting with williams with the chance of getting the D.Will and D.Howard duo in the off season ...but if D.Howard gets traded at the deadline to anybody but N.J this trade is very possible I posted this in the random trade thread but it also goes along with this thread.
