Jason Kidd at his prime was a superstar (imo one of the greatest PGs to ever play and should be a HOFer, easily the best of my era).

Though Kidd props was an elite rebounder and very clutch shooter.

I was thinking about that, Jason Kidd was no superstar, was a borderline star. at his best a borderline star...
A superstar should be a good shooter.....IMO he was not very clutch ..... otherwise he would not need Vince Carter, Jefferson to shoot that much

Kidd was the best PG of the 2000s imo.

He single-handedly (not stretching the truth, SINGLE HANDEDLY) turned around the Nets franchise (you could argue the Suns franchise as well).

And Richard Jefferson, really? Kidd's shooting used to improve dramatically late in games. It wasn't Richard Jefferson taking the big shots.

Now if Kidd was ever close to Lebron's shooting numbers

averaging 22 pts.... on 46 FG and 42 three shooting with all his gaudy assist and rebounding numbers....

I would say he is a superstar in his own rights

Nets were so bad .... I give him credit.... but you have to go to the Finals more than once or twice to be considered a superstar
And yes I think you need to be flashy, drawing the crowds, and getting the people call you MVP on a regular basis

Best PG? There is a reason why Nash has been a two times MVP and Kidd was no MVP once....the Reason is called SHOOTING and GETTING to the LINE consistently

He would be a superstar if he was the first option on the Dallas team, and Nowitzki the second or third.

First off, I am a huge fan of Nash. And I do feel that he was worthy of both MVPs. I also feel that Kidd got robbed in 2003 but that is neither here nor there.

BUT that being said, as great of a scorer as Nash is, he may be just as bad on the other end of the floor. Somewhat similar to how a prime Kidd is a poor scorer but elite defender at the PG position. Personally I would prefer outstanding defense and mediocre/bad shooting over great shooting and bad defense but to each their own.

Both Kidd and Nash are great ball handlers, passers, decision makers. I prefer Kidd due to his defense, rebounding along with those other things. Personally, I feel that Kidd was a better clutch scorer, especially in the postseason, BUT I can not find any stats to back me up (or disprove me) in that aspect. It is entirely based on what I remember about the early 2000s.

In today's NBA the so called superstar is flashy, have incredible numbers, boast MVP demeanor

I won't even call Steve Nash a superstar, he is not the most popular player
People have to recognize you as a superstar, not just TV analysts, owners, GMs

I know it is a tough cookie to swallow but this is a superstar's league

You put Steve Nash and Kidd in one body and that is Lebron in a PG's body.

Correct.... Each one has what the other lacks....

Kidd with better overall shooting, Nash's penetration skills, without Nash's horrible D, better scoring gifts, ABOVE ALL SWAGGER, COCKINESS, OVERCONFIDENCE ... easily a superstar.

    Gotcha.

Guess our definitions of superstars are different.

So by your definition, the only superstars in the league are:
    LeBron
    Kobe
    Rose
    Wade
    Howard
    Paul
    Durant
    Griffin

Yes sir...... I have a narrow mind when it comes to the term superstar

However you can be a star easily in my books

    Nash, Kidd are easily stars

I won't call Griffin a superstar yet.... because he does not have the track record... he needs more years, more mileage
    He is a future superstar
I think Kevin Love is a borderline superstar, he has confidence, and he is a scorer.... he lacks D though

Deron was temporarily a superstar IMO, he is not one now.....
    Dirk was one.....
so I think Nash and Kidd were ones just not long enough.......

you don't have to be a complete player to be a superstar. Magic Johnson was never a good defender. I think he was a superstar. Same with Barkley. Jason Kidd was definitely a superstar. He led the NETS to the finals twice. The NETS!!!

Van Horn, Kenyon, Jefferson, Kittles, etc. were all decent players but hardly stars.

I just wish Mutombo was given more of a chance there. Old Mutombo >>>> Jason Collins.

Alright.....I give in..... His superstar tenure was limited....to a few years with the Nets, a few good years.....
Guys like Kobe, Lebron have been superstars for a decade and more.

Come on. Lin has been great since he got the chance to play, but let's not compare him to someone who has established in this league. He just started 4th game in his career, let's wait until the end of the season, at least.

Even Jackie would pick Lowry. The league is on to Lin now, his numbers will drop.

I would not say that if I were you. Recall, one and a half season ago Lowry was not even a fulltime starter.
Life in a fast lane.... All you need is one single breakout season.

Surprisingly, when it comes to the Rockets... Jeremy Lin is the one doing all the ****ing.
