    Politics and injuries
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arvydas_Sabonis

Sabonis was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the 77th pick of the 1985 NBA Draft. However, the selection was voided because Sabonis was under 21 at the time of the draft. The following spring, he suffered a devastating Achilles' tendon injury. Nevertheless, he was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 24th pick of the 1986 NBA Draft.[4]

Sabonis was not allowed to play in the NBA by Soviet authorities until 1989. However, he did go to Portland to rehabilitate his injury with Blazers trainers. He also practiced with the team.

Another key moment for his future health took place in 1988 when Sabonis had a surgical Achilles procedure performed in Portland but was rushed back on the floor with the USSR Olympic team before a full recovery. The decision to include a limping Sabonis on the USSR roster for the 1988 Olympic games was protested at the time by Portland medical staff and was later heavily criticized.[6] Eventually Sabonis would develop chronic knee, ankle and groin issues that substantially limited his mobility and explosiveness by the mid-1990s.

huh? I said I understand why you think that is douchy. integrity? i mean yes, ok my internet integrity has taken a hit. i am trying to convey to you that i do not care. i enjoy using this site, arguing with people, talking about the rockets, but it is not an essential part of my life.

i started to write a long response explaining my side. but halfway through i remembered I DON'T GIVE A S%#@. the internet is still the internet, and i still don't give a f#@$ about you or anyone else here. that's not meant to sound dickish, it's just the truth, i don't know yall, i don't recognize the ranks in the posting community, i don't kiss the old members asses, i don't beg for rep, and of course i don't give a crap.

what i don't like is to be constantly pressured when i have plans to pay the debt when it was more convenient and wouldn't put a burden on my goal.

well then allow me to refresh your memory!

you said that you were not just down, you were "TOTALLY down" - you even spelled "totally" in all caps. look at that bravado..."ITS A DEAL SON".

here is you last april saying you would pay up.
here is what you said when i offered to let you out of the bet by paying half of the amount...

so are you "a man of your word" or not??? looks to me like you aint no man...you just a scared little boy trying to play your little boy games in a mans world.

liking or not liking me is irrelevant to the bet you made with me.

you repeatedly stated that you would pay and now you say you wont - so you admit you are a liar as well as a welsh?

its even douchier when you refuse to honor the terms of the bet and continue to post here.

you thought after a while id let you off the hook, but i assure you it will never happen. this is my 9/11 and i will NEVER FORGET!

For how much you claim not to care, you sure do spend a lot of time responding to things.

Oh and it will only get worse....

Amazing it took this 'noob' a meer 32 posts to figure out Tinmans tired, boorish, lamenting.

Oh and before he can state it...I have been here longer than you Tinman. I have been a Rockets fan longer than you have, and I love the Rockets no matter what era it is. Not only on small stretch that I can't seem to get my panties unbunched over almost 20 years later.

it doesn't matter where you make your obligation. You can't just coin the term "Internet integrity" with the implication that your dumb ass doesn't manifest your lack of integrity in all aspects of your life. You're probably some 15 year so I'll cut you some slack because you are not fully developed mentally. Don't enter an obligation you cannot keep. Period. Simple as that.

Moderators, I hope you do something about this chump.

"I am a man of integrity, except when I find it inconvenient or not worth my time to be so, or when there are no real-life repercussions if I choose to break my word, or when I simply do not like the person I made the pact with."

    Just saying.

No matter how much you dislike it, I will still NEVER let someone on the internet pressure me into doing something I don't want to do. You can't make me feel guilty, ashamed, or disappointed in myself. This is the internet and I am sorry that you have just discovered that not everyone on the internet treats this like an extension of their personality. This is a forum, a forum that I enjoy using, but I don't want/have to give a sh#t about you or your opinion of me.

Moderators don't need you to tell them what to do. If they want to ban me they'll go right ahead and ban me. I won't lost any sleep over it.

This is the internet. The internet. Remember you are still a stranger and my integrity will prove what? If I suddenly had 50 bucks and paid that bet what would change? Would you respect me more? If you did would that benefit me in any way?

Exactly! There are no real life implications. I have two choices, cooperate and pay, or defect and suffer what? Classic prisoner's dilemma, always defect, it always works out better for the individual no matter what the opponent does/thinks.

Yeah, We probably wouldn't think your a complete turd.
Who the hell lives at home, has an education, doesn't have a family to support, isn't a moron, and doesn't have a spare 50 bucks?
One of these obviously doesn't hold true.

I don't think you understand the point of the prisoner's dilemma. This is a non-zero sum game where each of us has our own decision, cooperate or defect. I am doing what is best for me, not for you, not for the good of the group.

This isn't about doing what is best for you as an individual, nor is it about solving the prisoner's dilemma. It's about integrity, which is about keeping to your word regardless of the repercussions, perhaps especially when there are no seeming repercussions at all.

If you are someone who keeps to his word only when it serves his interest, and whenever possible "defect", then that is pretty much the opposite of the definition of integrity.

And yes, this is an anonymous realm filled with virtual personalities that will never encounter you in your real life. You may even wish to qualify it by calling this a futile exercise in "Internet integrity." It matters only if you decide that it matters.

the last page of this thread is full of awesome! good to see others standing up for whats right and calling out the welsh.

i did not pressure you into making that bet w/ me. you came out of nowhere and offered to take me up on it. you volunteered to bet me $50 and repeatedly said that you intended to pay. and 1 week into the season, when it was obvious mcgrady would not average 15 ppg, i kindly offered to let you buy out of the bet for $25 and you said "im a man of my word" and that you would follow through on the bet b/c it was time for you to make a "lil contribution to the tipjar anyways".

    spoken like a true t-mac fan!

part of the terms of the bet that you agreed to is that you had two weeks to pay and if not you agreed to suspend your account.

yes. at the least, people would be able to take you seriously when you say "im a man of my word".

yawn yawn yawn jo. I didn't say you pressured me into making the bet. I said you constantly pressured me to pay up when I told you I was in a tough spot and couldn't do it. You didn't back down, I gave you a warning that if you continued to piss me off that when I had the money I wouldn't pay if you kept at it.
