You know, I thought the league had seen the last overpriced contract coming out of the unreal expectations of a D'Antoni system (Diaw, Marion, Barbosa, Joe Johnson, Amare...), bu apparantly not (Lin).

I like Lin, and I think it is a shame we let Flynn and his stupid expiring contract deprive us of having a guy like that on our team -- but, D'Antoni is going to get this guy overpaid, and it is going to rub the shine off this awesome story -- just like with the overpaid guys out of PHX I named. Good for Lin, he's earned this -- but one of the clauses of the collective bargaining agreement should have been a anti-D'Antoni contract inflation clause.

Really? So I guess Gilbert has two CBA clauses named after him now -- the amnesty clause, and this.

I think we should go ahead and close this thread. That Knicks pick is going to wind up in the late teens to twenties. Game over. Accept it. Move on.

Close the thread because they got some wins against scrub teams, or close the thread before we even see how Lin can keep Melo and Amare happy, with harder games at that?

Even if the Knicks still wind up in the lottery, all the hype over Lin has probably really hurt the trade value of that pick.

So keep it. Morey is right behind Presti and Pop with his draft record.

I usually agree with you, but this is an exception. It's a shortened season...any injury is magnified. The Knicks are entering a brutal part of their schedule. Lin hasn't taken a turn through the League (Teams will adjust and Lin's going to also have to prove he can hit that J some more) and has faced crappy teams/Lakers (who are weak at the point) on a back to back. Melo, Amare, and Davis are going to be in the mix. The Knicks aren't going to magically have this same chemistry with those guys back. They also have depth issues as they are in the middle of construction. Either way, there is a good chance this pick gets dealt by the deadline. All in all plenty of reasons to stay tuned.

And now Anderson Varejao gets injured, hurting the Cavs and helping the Knicks' playoffs pursuit. Bogut and Varejao ... starting to feel a bit snakebit now. I tempered my expectations and felt the 15th-17th pick was likely... but I got to say, if Rockets land the 8th seed, losing their pick (and their second rounder), and the Knicks end up 18 or something like that, I'll be very disappointed with this season.

I wanted to full out tank. That isn't possible any longer. We really have to hope that NY sucks or that Morey is able to land us a major upgrade. Going into the offseason with the roster basically as is and only armed with cap room for DH and DW is a bad idea.

I've given up hope on this pick.

I don't see Melo messing things up, I see it the other way around. Melo will still get his ISO touches on the elbow and in the middle of the court. Only difference now though is that he has another player to kick it out to. A player that has proven he can shoot the ball and create.

Amare now has a PNR PG...

I think they should be a lock for the playoffs now.

Houston's best chance at landing a superstar player for this season and next is to win now. Hope to get the 3-5 seed in the west and hope that could convince Dwight and a boat load of money to come here.

If not...well better hope Mook or D-Mo turn out to be our guys.

Lin has played well but I see him crashing back down to earth fairly hard. There is still a chance for it to be a solid lotter pick.
