Not true. The Rockets just happened to have the worst record when claiming him off waivers. Reports say Boston put in a claim too. I'm sure some others showed interest.
He's been on the team for a while now, why wouldnt he practice? I do agree he needed to let loose, but i think he just realized he was going to get cut, yet again, and that woke him up. With Melo and amar'e out, it became the perfect opportunity for him, as he had nothing to lose at that point. Sometimes you hold yourself back because you want to fit into a role and that's who you become.
Stop saying well he picked him up therefore he didnt fail, he let the guy go for nothing. That is fail.
It's OK to say "I" or "no one" knew he was this good. But, If you "had" him in your jersey, on your squad and you didn't find out he was this good or put him in a position to SEE if he was "any" good. YOU FAIL!
I kinda feel for our GM. This season has been an especially dark chapter in Morey's odyssey to find a superstar. First his Gasol trade gets blocked, he finally accepts that TWill is failling to develop, then he finds out he had a superstar in the making sitting at the end of his bench. Even if he feels justified in his decision to cut Lin, it doesn't mean that it doesn't sting to see him flourish -- for the effin Knicks of all teams! This could not have played out any worse for us. I, too, to am stunned, and maybe that's why I don't mind all the hilarious JLin troll posts. Our only option is to see the irony/humor in the situation. F*** NY.
I like Hoops Analyst, but his draft projections are very hit and miss. I don't think he really takes into account strength of competition, which is obviously a big factor in projecting college players.
I have said this for many years on this board, some fans are smarter than most think. It is a false assumption that the professionals ALWAYS know BETTER than the fans who are a bunch of chip eating sofa sitting armchair quarterbacks. It seemly isn't true. And not that the fans have to be college or professional coaches or players. For example, some ordinary people have a knack for assessing talent. They see things that others don't Give the fans on this board who wrote multiple posts about Linn (and Smith) some credit for seeing something others didn't see. And I still think this is a Beltran like hot streak and can't last, but the kid is good and will hang, just won't consistently hit Kobe like numbers. Especially when the "Stars" return.
Maybe. But fans can make a lot of predictions, and when they turn out right they can brag about it and when they turn out wrong they can pretend like they didn't say anything. Actually being in the position where every choice you make has real consequences and both the good and the bad are under the spotlight is a tougher gig.
Agreed, but there are a number of posters on the board who write back to say they were wrong including you and me. True, we have only "fun" at stake whereas the professionals have their careers riding on their decisions. However, I have read some amazingly insightful comments on this board through the years. Yes, we don't know who is writing them but still.
This is the perfect time for Morey to redeem himself for the Lin mistake by swooping in and getting Melo from the Knicks for players that fit a Lin-led Knicks team better than Melo does. Maybe Martin, Scola, and Dragic?

What??!! Lin was given ample opportunity just like everyone else. Guys, trust me. If Flynn were given starters minutes, he too would be producing good stats. How do i know this?? Because in his rookie season he was playing starters minutes and doing well until he got hurt.
He missed one game in his rookie season, and he was maybe a 17 and 6 PG during a hot stretch, but he never had games like this. His best game was a 29 and 9 game against the Sixers and he played 43 minutes in that game. But other than that, he was an above average scoring PG when he got the minutes. Jeremy might very well be that too, but right now he's dropping 38 on the Lakers.
