I feel like they saw we were full of talent at the point and we have tweeners that overlap at one, why even look hard at a short walk-on Asian at a crowded position. Turrible!
There is one other player who had as big of a rookie game as Jennings did as well. That guy was Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Bball is just like any other sport. Guys can get incredibly hot for stretches.
You wanna know the only difference is between Jennings and Flip Murray and all those other players?? Lin did that with the attention and hype surrounding it.. I mean the guy is on every news outlet right now... Again like you said he's just in the feel of the moment let's see if he can do this **** consistently... maybe NBA Journeyman or maybe an elite PG???
There IS allot of hype on Lin right now. I think in his position right now he can become more confident because of it, which will help him. This game is all about confidence.
That's the only difference and also that he's Asian AND playing in New York. I'm not saying Lin is bad but some of the things I am hearing people say after 4 games is silly. Guys get hot sometimes, even superstar players get on a roll at times. Like that stretch Kobe had 40+ point game one after the other. I know one thing though...Vince Carter has to be feeling like Shaq feels about Dwight Howard lol.
Yeah, these kind of comparisons are always so valid. I expect nothing less than a finals run by the Knicks followed by Lin making his FA decision on ESPN in the offseason.
i havent read through the 24 pages but you all do know he was being sarcastic right? This was in response to taking twitter questions from fans and as a result of so many Lin questions he just gave in and sarcastingly admitted it was a mistake cutting Lin.
It was a joke, lol i don't dislike stern, i actually think it was a good thing the trade didn't go through.

I don't agree. I think he genuinely regrets not keeping Lin, in hindsight. To me, Lin doesn't appear to have standout offensive qualities like great shooting skill or explosive athleticism. He has been very successful of late because he knows how to read a defense and understands the angles to attack out of a pick and roll. I don't think think you can know a player is elite in that respect unless you're watching him for an extended period in real games. Targeted practice sessions and simulated games, like training camp scrimmages, only tell you so much.
It'll be interesting to see if he can keep it up. There's a long list of PG's who had breakout streaks but didn't keep it up. Brooks, Goran (playoffs vs Spurs), Brandon Jennings, etc. Obviously I wish he was in Houston, or anywhere except the Knicks for that matter, but if he was here I wouldn't expect him to average 25 ppg.
People should be giving Morey credit for even being smart enough to bring Lin in when we already had 3 point guards. Morey could see that he was better than Flynn, even the casual fan could see that but the way the contracts were it was hard to keep him. Nobody knew he would play this good. I didn't see all of the other GM's jumping on him, maybe they just aren't as smart as Morey.
He's very Steve Nash in his game. Problem with practices for a player like Lin is that he is doing what he is being told to do, so he is never going to look impressive deferring to other teammates. With the Knicks - the guys who he'd have to defer to were all injured. The Knicks were forced to plug him in without giving him much direction. In other words, he was finally free to just control the game and do whatever he wanted. And only then was his game revealed. The other factor he is that D'Antonio is a point guard's dream. He turned Steve Nash into an MVP. And it's no surprise than at what is happening with Lin. Lin needed to be in a position where he could do his thing and given a chance. He got it. Practices might have been holding him back in fact, since they are so structured. Whereas with the Knicks, he didn't have a chance to practice, they got him in there and just had to play him.
