Flip Murray actually had similars stats for a longer period of time...

His first 11 games in 2003-2004, coming out of essentially nowhere.

    1. 24
    2. 22
    3. 24
    4. 24
    5. 29
    6. 20
    7. 16
    8. 26
    9. 31
    10. 26
    11. 21

While averaging 5 assists and 5 rebounds a game on excellent shooting...

Kiiiiiinda starting to be skeptical of these NBA point-guard-friendly rules they have now...

-Got Kyrie Irving shooting 50% and 40% from three at age 19 with little college experience.
-Ricky Rubio is making an instant impact after sucking in Europe (low shooting numbers but still)
-Kyle Lowry came out of nowhere, lets admit it
-Steve Nash is still playing elite level
-Jeremy Lin here is looking like Oscar Robertson.

Of course that means why arent ALL THE OTHER GUARDS in the league tearing it up then. I'm just thinking there's a mix of both talent and certain skills to utilize the point guard friendly rules

Are we talking specifically about the 'no hand checking' rule?

He's always been a smug (fake) a-hole. He thinks he's more slicker and humorous than he actually is.

Though after 16 years, really its hard to blame him for not giving a f**k about questions.

Flip shot right at 50% averaging 23.9 ppg and 4.36 apg. Excellent, but Lin has been even better.

I lol'd at Kobe's response to the question.

    Lin was fine without suggestions.

    Boom Daddy.

Gonna rep this one. These rules are much more conducive to point guards having dominant stat lines and being effective scoring and assisting than bigs.

And that is one of the reasons I am not opposed to moving Lowry (as much as I like him) in a trade for a legit superstar big man. Because of the replacability factor of PGs with today's game. I'm looking at the Lilliard kid and am convinced he will be a very good PG in the NBA. Not to mention the Machado kid. He's an NBA PG as well. Both guys could start in the NBA right now and be effective. There's so many top performing PGs in today's game that none of us can determine who is actually the best PG in the game. It's not like centers. Everybody knows Dwight is the best center. But we would all argue til kingdom come about who the best PG is or who the best 5 PGs are or who the best 10 PGs are.

As a secondary Wiz fan, I'm still waiting for these rules to help John Wall shoot. It's fair to say that the rules have changed since the 90's but hell, it's also fair to say that legit PG skills are not possessed by all PGs, and an avid and competent fan should be able to tell that Lin possesses it.

And read the last part of that statement:
"why aren't all the other guards in the league tearing it up..."

Finding a good PG ain't that easy. Those who excel have skills.

He won't always shoot this well, but he will always have a high bball IQ and play good defense.

I am just a fan and I saw that in 5 minutes in preseason.

watched his post game press conference. I think other players needs to take notes.

This is what Harvard education does to you. Smart, polite, gives credit to teammates even after all these career nights.

This guy might not avg 26 pts in his career, but there's a place for him in the NBA.

Has Jason Whitlock tweeted the MSG joke yet? Man that guy is so smart, funny and not at all a completely hypocritical fraud.

Irving has talent; evaluators saw this, and regarded him as the #1 pick.

Rubio had experience (Olympic and otherwise) at a young age. 14 years old, I think. He's always been superb at passing.

Kyle Lowry...I'll give this one to you, haha.

Steve Nash is 38, yes, but remember that he is a two-time MVP and is a great shooter.

Jeremy Lin...I'll give this one to you too. But talent evaluators must have messed up bad, when scouting this guy.

You could argue that the interior defense has been really bad; I don't think the rules have anything to do with great PG play.

Maybe points wise, but assists not even close. With that said, Jeremy Lin might drop back to earth but at least he has proven he can be a backup PG at least.
