[PARENTING] Dad uses Facebook to teach daughter a lesson

That girl will have sex with at least 50 guys before she gets out of college.

 

Actually, yes. Her language was ridiculously offensive, even for a teenager. When I was that age, I (nor any of my friends, for that matter) would NEVER use profane language like that when speaking to my brothers or my Mom. Period.

And talking that way to my Dad? Oh, you better believe, that's a paddlin'.

 

So adjust your parenting appropriately for each one.

If you have to do what he just did, then you either 1) screwed up already or 2) suck too much at life to actually fix the problem without going WAY the hell overboard.

 

Yep, this is the leverage that every teenage girl has over her parents, the slut threat.

 

Wait... I didn't know she was blonde and went to USC...

 

Wow!!! I'd probably do the same thing if my kid did that. Good thing I don't have kids. :grin:

The dad admits that they over-indulged this child. She shows little gratitude and is entitled and disrespectful. Having already screwed up, he is doing what he thinks he will get through to her after other methods failed. Not my style, but I am glad he is trying.

 

he shot her laptop, he didn't cut her tongue out. and he is adjusting. his previous methods weren't working so he had to up the ante.

 

This was back when a nickel could get you to the movies with popcorn and a Coke, and you'd have change leftover.:grin:

I can't even believe there's a thread on cf.net about this, let alone a big internet reaction.

I wrote and said much worse things about my parents at that age, before that age and after that age. In fact, I said much worse things to their faces. And they said and did much worse to me.

I thought this was going to be exciting with the OP build-up. What a bore.

 

A Latin mom style ass whooping would have made more economic sense.

Only a matter of time before the daughter buys a gun and some hollow points and then shoots the living **** out of daddy's truck.

Lesson learned.

 

Facebook, if it hasn't already is going to get someone killed. I will be so glad when it fades into obscurity like myspace.

As for the dad, I don't blame him, teens are so entitled these days and they think they have it so bad because their laptop, phone, iPod, iPad, is last years model....

Sometimes you need to do something drastic to get their attention.

 

All I can think of is the episode where Homer gets a gun.

This is one of those times I am SO glad I never had children...

If thats the worst that father ever does, then his kids will be ok.

At least he cares enough to set boundries. Thats what kids need...especially teenagers.

I have more to say, but will keep it to myself out of respect for those people who have the toughest job ever....parenting.
