Quite a lot to ask for a new coach taking over a team in a lock out shortened season, who lost an integral part of their rotation in Odom and was used to a system orchestrated by a coaching legend for the past decade or so. Have you ever considered that?

If Lin balls out again vs L.A., Lin should "Tebow" he's earned it.

    LINSANITY! I LOVE IT.

There was still a good chance. Nene would've chosen to play alongside Gasol than a team which lost Wilson Chandler, Jr Smith, and Kenyon. Let's say the Lakers said okay forget Lowry, and offered Pau for Scola,Martin, and Dragic today... would you do it?

Yeah great idea. Let's do a trade that will make the Lakers a lot better by getting either Scola/Martin and Lowry and we get Gasol in return...and actually become worse because Gasol is overrated and soft

What does this have to do with anything?

I'm saying trading Kobe for a fine PG and pieces will help the Lakers more than trading Gasol, because Bynum and Gasol are often under utilized because Kobe shoots too much.

I'm not debating what packages, I'm debating what helps the team more. And in my opinion, a fine PG and pieces plus Gasol and Bynum will help the Lakers more than Kobe Bryant and a PG with just Bynum.

Gasol is about a billion times better than either Scola or Martin. And if Gasol's soft -- you know, the guy with double-digit rebounds, over a block per game and seven feet of length -- I'm curious what you think about Scola's 5.7 boards and 0.3 blocks, or Martin's lack of defense of any kind.

I wouldn't trade Lowry in a Gasol deal. But if the Rockets can somehow get Gasol for Martin/Scola/filler, you do it in a heartbeat.

    Lowry/Flynn or whoever
    Lee/bud
    Parsons/Morris/Bud
    Gasol/Patterson
    Samuel/Gasol/Hill

I'd consider trading Dragic for the Dallas pick though. It wouldn't preclude us from signing him to a long-term deal this offseason.

Martin WON'T be in the trade for sure. They have this guy, he seems to take a lot of shots, and people say he is a rather good player, playing his position.

Lowry is pretty much out (according to DM's words). If Lakers are desperate (if they start losing), and there are no other real offers out there, Scola & Dragic, or Pat, Dragic, and fillers, might be the best they can get.

Gasol is good for the Rockets because Lowry is starting to get some hype. You add a player like Gasol who gets a fair share of hype himself, maybe we become attractive players in FA. I don't believe Lowry alone gets Dwight, but Lowry and Gasol (keeping Martin too), would all of a sudden make the Rockets one of the premiere locations for Dwight. Don't underestimate the impact ESPN heads talking up the Rockets would have (and ESPN heads <3 Gasol).

Side note, Martin would only be in the trade if a 3rd team got involved. I also don't believe it would be Dragic and Martin. Rockets need some scoring punch off the bench and if they give them both up, I don't believe they have it.

yeh, let's trade 3 starters (Dragic would start on many teams) for 1 31 yr old who didnt even make the allstar list as a RESERVE this year and is gettin paid 18.5M - to upgrade 4 boards and 2 pts a night over our existing PF -brilliant!
    lmao

Let's continue this logic. Dwyane Wade is 30 and would upgrade Kevin Martin by a mere four points, two assists and one rebound per game. He also gets paid $15.5 million. I guess Martin, Scola and Dragic for Wade would be a bad move too, right?

    lmao

always amusing when you have Martin and Scola on this team, yet we're calling gasol too soft......

    With all due respect,

We'll have to agree to disagree.

I think Kyle is worth much more than Iggy or Granger. He's on that sweet contract, plays a position that is tough to develop, and still has some upside. Put him with a talented big and a consistent/athletic SF and his #'s will soar higher.
He should be the leader of this team for a long time. That said, if the right deal came down the pike, then who knows? I like the idea of trading a PG for a talented big ....but not Lowry for Pau ....no way.

In my opinion, the time to trade for Gasol was five years ago and the team that did it put together some championships. Now they recognize it's time to rebuild a little and the team that trades for him will be just another team that's five years behind the Lakers. Chasing the 2007 championship in 2012-15 is not the way to go. If you're almost championship caliber and you think Gasol is the difference that's one thing. But I don't think that's where we are.

No, but the same logic applies. You can't take numbers at face value (X points, X rebounds) when one player (Gasol/Wade) has two other stars to siphon away points and boards, which obviously isn't the case for Martin/Scola in Houston.

You can argue that Pau's too expensive, though I don't think he is if you lose the contracts of both Martin/Scola. But Gasol is a much better basketball player than Luis Scola - that part's not debatable.
