so...from garnett/rondo/allen/pierce to....garnett/jennings/martin/scola ??? why would boston do that? lol
Lol idk why they wanted to do Pau for Rondo but many rumors said they were interested. Figured flipping Pau for Martin+Scola would be good value for them. Furthermore, with Rondo being traded, they would need a PG. Figured the main reason they wanted to get rid of Rondo was because they wanted to acquire a PG who can shoot (and Jennings is a young one who fits that mold).
Given the time-frame, Jennings is most likely just anglinig for a bigger extension come next season. He will still be under his rookie deal next year. Even after next year (summer 2013), he will still be an restricted FA, and this means Milwaukee can not only match all outside offers, Milwaukee will also be the only team that can pay him for 5 years with the 7.5% raise. So, basically Jennings can't leave Milwaukee without their consent, and will have to take a substantial pay cut and/or injury risk (by not signing a contract extension and signing the qualifying offer instead of a long-term deal) in order to do so. Remember what happened with Marc Gasol-- Jennings is in a similar boat. Any talking he does now about exploring leaving is just something to make sure that the Bucks feel a bit nervous about him possibly leaving so that they'll make a better contract extension offer.
He wants out of Milwaukee, he wants to be a major star and to play in a large market. I personally do not think he is good enough to be a major star in a larger market.... but he thinks he can and will be a super star.
Another team back to the drawing board after a very talented center can't stay healthy. Oden. Bogut. Yao. Bynum early in his career and the odds are he will get hurt again. Its incredible we had the most agile center ever playing his whole career without landing on an ankle or falling wrong and taking out a knee and missing significant time, like a whole season. Anyway, Jennings, I like him. If 2K12 is any indication, he's got superstar written all over him.
With an average chucking percentage of below .400, I doubt Jennings will be the center piece of another team. Looking at Kemba Walker too, i think he will probably progress in the same pattern as Jennings did.
