I love how there have been so many posts around the site suggesting we amnesty Scola because he's getting too old and losing a step, yet, so many want us to trade for a guy (Gasol) who's making over 10M/yr MORE than Scola and is THE SAME AGE AS SCOLA.... Is the difference between 15.3/5.7 (Scola this year) vs 16.8/10.2 (Pau this year) worth 10M/yr in capspace? diff of 1.5 pts/4.5 boards a night? Career 14.4/7.8 vs 18.7/9.1 diff of 3.3 pts/1.3 boards.... Is that really an upgrade worth 10M/yr in capspace? PLUS we gotta throw in Dragic (who we could prob get a late first rd for)... PLUS we gotta throw in a top 10 SG.... Oh wait, THATS NOT GOOD ENOUGH for the Lakers... They want our up n coming PG whos on a very friendly contract... SCREW THEM! They should be happy with a straight swap (for Scola and filler) to get Gasols contract off their books! maybe add a second rd pick.... Anything else - and we're jus stupid! ....imo
Lowry + Scola for Pau? Hmmm, that is a tough one, as you would be selling high on Lowry, and Scola is beginning to decline. It would leave us thin at the backup PG spot as Dragic could probably get close to doing what Lowry is doing now - but I am not sure it makes us a better team. Seriously that is a tough one......I like Pau, I like Luis, and I like Lowry..... Can't decide, whatever DM wants to do here is fine by me. DD
Didnt we learn anything from the Scottie Quitten experience? Pau is a top knotch Robin - but he's gettin paid Batman money...
Not a good deal at the moment. Kyle Lowry's worth is not far off from Gasol. Dragic and Scola for Gasol is a better deal, Lowry and Scola for Gasol is a flat out steal for the Lakers.
Yes Tough loss, but worth it. Martin? Sure, they can have him. Up and coming? Lowry is here. I don't think trading Lowry is in the best interest in a rebuilding team as he is younger. Scola, Dragic, Martin...Lakers can have them if they want them. Gasol is a much better player than people give him credit for even at his age. Tough call if it comes down to Lowry.
It sounds like Pau prefers an Adelman/Jackson system over McHale/Brown's. http://lakersblog.latimes.com/lakersblog/2012/01/links.html
I'm sorry, but Gasol, is not that much of an upgrade over Scola. Now "Marc" Gasol, is a different story, but Memphis isn't giving him up. I can't even believe rockets fans are willing to give up the heart and soul of this team, Lowry, just because the bench & Dragic had a couple good games. IMO, if we can't get Howard, at the very least we need to fill a major hole in this team, which is a post defender, that has decent moves in the post, and can pass out of a double team. Pretty much bring back the Chuck Wagon, or maybe a take a chance on Bogut. Anderson Varejao would fit on this team, and bring alot of needed toughness to the starting lineup.
In my opinion, trading Kobe for a good point guard and pieces will help the Lakers more than trading Pau. A good point guard will achieve a lot more with Gasol and Bynum. They're always underutilized because Kobe takes all the shots.
Barring lingering injury effects, I would love to go after Bogut in the offseason... plus I think he's worn out his welcome in Milwaukee with Skiles....
No way you would ever deal Lowry without bringing a stud PG back. Going from Lowry to Dragic would be a massive dropoff, massive. Stagnation would rise and IQ would tank...
I would love to see a cage match between the Jeremy Lin cult and the Morey cult. Settle things once and for all! lmao:grin:
I would be willing to give up the same pieces as we did in the nixed trade. Dragic, Martin, Scola for Gasol.
