How can you say that? Daryl Morey himself said they didn't know he was this good. Who cares about YouTube highlight clips? Anyone can look good in a highlight reel. You act like Lin was in the league for years and is a known commodity. If we are going off what he's done so far n his career, he ws unproven. So to say he isn't showing us anything that wasn't before is very ridiculous.
I see any of these trades as somewhat neutral. Strengthen the frontcourt, weaken the backcourt. Clearly, you'd rather trade Scola and Dragic, then Lowry, but regardless, for the Rockets, iit doesn't exactly make them championship contenders. Not sure I understand the thinking from the Lakers, either. I know they've been butthurt for a solid PG for a long time. And I know their new front office has a hard-on for Bynum, but relying on Bynum as your only meaningful frontcourt player? Yes, a big three of Lowry, Kobe and Bynum is definitely solid. And seemingly more well rounded then what they got now - a PG, swing guard and post player. But, especially in the half-court grind of the playoffs, their seriosu competitive advantage throughout the games was that dominant frontcourt.
or cut out the rockets altogether. rondo who was shopped in the pre-season would cost at least pau. without having to give up a player as significant as pau. the lakers could instead go after vets like hinrich, sessions, udrih, and harris. all have been mentioned in trade talk.
Why does the Jeremy Lin Cult have to inject him into every thread? Major deja vu with YOF's running amok again screwing with the GARM.....
Yes Kupchak would be, in scenario 2 where Lin is part of the trade. In scenario 1 however, where we give the Lakers either Lowry or Dragic (known quantities around the league) with some other combination of pieces, we would now be the ones 'discovering' and unleashing Linsanity instead of the Knicks. I suppose now you will say 'but- but Morey is also immune to the scouting reports of bbsers!! He wouldn't have dared to trade away Dragic or Lowry!!' And to that I say, we really should be asking ourselves how 29 teams, and especially our team that supposedly prides itself on disinterested, computer based statistical analyzation of talent, dismissed this guy so easily when anyone who puts in a modicum of research can see what a glaring oversight they made. Hate to bring up the race card.. but there's really no better explanation here..
ENOUGH WITH LIN!!!!.... if he was with the Rockets he would have 0 trade value because he would be 3rd on the depth chart at best. GIVE IT UP PEOPLE!!!!
Im about to go all Bima on this site. Besides a few quality posters, its a damn shame how completely out of touch with reality Rockets fans are generally.
I love Bynum's game. It's just those previous injuries that scare the bejabbers out of me. If Lowry goes out, it better be for someone who can play major minutes w/o this level of downside risk out of the gate. I can see where Morey might like the overlay in talent, but can't reconcile it w/ the other.
Lin has showed us some good games, but he could simply fade back into a third string point guard. As good as Klow has been, a package centered around him for Gasol would be something to think about. I think our biggest issue right now is inside scoring. I don't think you do it though. Lowry is a bulldog and I love that the fact that he is probably the biggest value contract in the league and plays hard every night. He came out last night and helped us get a road win, 24 hours after running off the court with his arm hanging by his side. IMO- Martin/Scola for Gasol really helps us out. Budinger/Lee can replace a lot of what Martin does (with Lee playing very good defense) and Patterson will hit the mid range jumpers that Scola leaves behind. Plus, if you move Lee into the starting lineup you can move Parsons to the bench. You will need a shooter on the perimeter. Gasol/Dalembert Patterson/Hill Budinger/Parsons/Morris Lee/Dragic/Budinger Lowry/Dragic You wait around for the offseason/FA period/draft and wait for the best perimeter player you can to fall loose. You are going into win now mode so the NY pick+ on of our extra small forwards would have to be on the table.
Obviously, to every one in the league it is shocking and surprising. Sure there are people who thought he had enough talent to be an NBA player, but 20+ per game and a 10 assist game in his first 3 starts good? No, nobody in the NBA saw that, including the Knicks. Because if anyone did, they would have claimed him off waivers without giving up anything for him. If the Knicks knew he would do that, then obviously he would have been in the rotation alot sooner than 3 games ago. The summer league performance was great, but there are lots of players who have a great summer league games and can't duplicate it in real NBA games. Let's see if Lin can keep in up consistently, or if he is like TMac after being traded to the Knicks and putting up some good numbers for a few games, and Tmac fans were saying they knew he could still play and the Rockets were fools for trading him...
