So much fuss about Lakers robbing. Lakers got Pau for 4 years so far, and Marc is already better. Not to mention Grizzles dumped enough salary to sign Randolph as well. It's a win-win trade, let the truth be told.
LOL. Pau loses his all-star spot, only to have Bynum gets one. Kobe still has an all-star by his side.
This is correct. Also, so what if Marc Gasol is now better? That trade gave the Lakers two championships.
Yes, Kobe only needs one all star to win it all. You'd kill him to ride the coattail of a team with 2 all stars.
LOL. Most top10 picks never made all star. Every all star pick is lucky. At the end of the day, Morey was god and Knight was let go. Yet Grizzles won a playoff series for the first time in franchise history 3 years after trading their best player and have better squad today. It's been 15 years and Rockets are still stuck in mediocre. Maybe the entire GM business is about luck after all.
You rebuilt, there's a difference between trading stars for players that help you win now, (Denver in Melo trade) and trading your star so you can lose and rebuild. (what the Grizzlies did.)
Yep, that's why the Lakers have 2 rings and Memphis has none. Its a lot like the Battier for Gay deal, it was a win-win trade but the Rox could have gotten more. Same thing here, Memphis could have gotten WAY more than Marc Gasol (who was an unknown player and had about as much value as Greg Smith) and Kwame Brown for one of the best big men in the league.
So what's wrong with Grizzles rebuilding? They were having the second consecutive 20 wins season with Pau, with the trade they got the space, picks and young prospects, they used the space to sign Randolph, one of the prospects blooms. In retrospect, what other trade would have made them better? It's just ridiculous to use the the rob notion when pretty much every team does the rebuilding this way. Yes, they did help Lakes win 2 championships, but why do they care? Some team gotta win it every year. Grizzles were on the brink of selling the franchise and this trade saved them.
LOL, Memphis never won any playoff game before the trade in their franchise history, now they already won 7. Lakers had 14 championships before those 2. Memphis had a breakthrough, not Lakers. And what other better trade was on the table? In retrospect, every GM will pull trigger on that trade.
Agreed. This is where we differ, trading Pao was not a mistake. But, they could have gotten much better than Kwame, Crittenton, and a second rounder. If nothing else somebody would have coughed up a first rounder and a solid prospect. But, in the end, good for the Grizz to get up from under Pao and win some playoff games.
They got 2 future first round picks, and Crittenton, who is a first round pick and Marc. And most importantly, they got the only big expiring contract in the league to dump the salary, which they could surely convert to a big name free agent. Cap space is much better than a few average players in rebuilding. Just ask Riley.
there is no need to argue about this with them. Most rockets fans on the board have an aversion to the grizzlies that is unhealthy. there is basically a logical explanation to anything good that the grizzlies have done, which involves a series of blunders and missteps and mismanagement of the team. the bottom line is that the grizzlies were the blind squirrel in the saying finds a nut.
1. Pau is still way better than Marc 2. if I take your house and wife and only give u a lottery ticket in return, is it less a robbery if the lottery ticket ends up giving u sth? Lol 3. You are the dumbest chinese person I know
Kobe seemed kind of amused in the post-game interview when he was told that Pau wasn't going to be an All-Star this year.
Memphis did not "get lucky" on a second round pick. They have been scouting Marc since he was a teenager. They were highly familiar with his game. He was the main piece of the Pau trade. And Memphis got more than just Marc. They were able to clear capspace and pick up a perennial 20/10 guy in Zach Randolph. Yes rebuilding is risky and yes Memphis did get lucky here and there BUT to say the Pau deal was one-sided is highly ignorant. It clearly was win-win in the end.
Not like the Grizzlies with Pau would be close to that. They were one of the worst teams in the league, now they are viewed as a pretty legit team.
