That is why it is moot to talk about holding on to Lin. We gave him a good opportunity...... hell we didn't create the lockout, nor did we shorten the offseason

I am glad to watch real good basketball, don't know about you guys.....
If you think back, the lockout could have prevented Lin becoming Lin.
It's a good Cinderella story. One in a million.

It's not about whether he was a difference maker. It's hard to get one out of the top 5. It was about Morey's draft choices being better at 8-10 vs the 13th-15th. Morey's 13th-15th picks don't give me much confidence of them reaching Rudy Gay's level of play.

I like the Knicks pick at the 6-8 range over the 15th pick, any day.

Maybe it's you. I am not really excited about it being it 6-10.

Gay being the one of the better prospects.
Flynn 6th, Vesely 6th, Hill 8th....... more and more underwhelming players

Screw the Cinderella story. I hope he sucks it up for the rest of the season. Then, the Knicks fall to the 5th draft pick. Then, Rockets win the lottery to drop the Knicks to 6th draft pick and take it away. Dolan's expression at the lottery would be priceless.

Those teams have underperformed at drafting, at all draft positions. Kahn and Isiah Thomas have always done poorly at the draft and skipping over better players at the same position.

    Knicks 30th
    Timberwolves 25th

Houston being the 22nd? 2 championships

Trades are as important....if not more important

You can't blame Morey for releasing Lin without knowing what kinds of deals Morey was trying to turn with our expirings and other talent. Chances are if the Gasol trade goes down that Lin is still here.

That's pretty much a guarantee. We would have had two extra roster spots and one less pg. Stern screwed us real good.

Even in trades a 6th pick is worth more than 15th pick.

I'm not tripping over Lin at all. He has looked really good against 3 bad defensive teams running the pick and roll but that is not enough for me to consider it some huge mistake. I'd still rather have Dragic and Lowry over him and if Flynn's contracts ends up getting us a bigger player I'd rather have him too. Just a comment of how Stern's decision affected us negatively.

This is short term thinking. Long term Gasol's contract will drag us down.

If we really think about long-term we should have tanked already with this mediocre roster. Les decided to remain competitive so the Gasol trade made sense.

Imagine a team with the following roster:

    PG Lowry/Lin
    SG Lee/TWill
    SF Parsons/Bud
    PF Gasol/PPat
    C Nene/Chuck Hayes

This team would have the potential to be top 4 in the West. Oh, what could have been.

That's why I think Les is getting senile.
Sorry old man. I know you want to win bad. Something's gotta give.

You are right. But I doubt we can actually keep this up especially with Lowry out. I hope I am wrong though.

It's just I can't find myself rooting for Gasol

    If it were for
Gallinari, Bynum or Cousins, Marc Gasol

    I'd be very happy

Understandable. But then the trade didn't happen anyway. In short, Stern screwed us up no matter how you see it. With Lin excelling in NY, it hurts even more.

You are exactly right if we are not able to pull off a blockbuster trade at the deadline for a superstar. However, if we pull off a huge franchise changing trade at the deadline, then it may be a result of a bunch of these guys playing their tails off and looking better than they actually are because of their hustle and drive.
