I don't think it's ego. Besides just being nice to Lin, I think he's deflecting blame from McHale (to whatever extent that's even necessary). Morey saw promise in Lin. That's why we had him in camp. McHale didn't see a reason to put him in the line-up. And Morey didn't see the need to keep an unguaranteed contract that isn't going to play over a guaranteed contract that isn't going to play (another guy with 'potential' too). If McHale told Morey he wanted Lin in his 8-man rotation, maybe we would have cut someone else.

In any case, I'm not much regretting it. At the end of the day, I don't think Lin will maintain his current production. NBA players can kick some ass sometimes with the stars align, but they need to be able to do it every game to be worthwhile. Didn't John Lucas III have some great games a little while back? Are we still kicking ourselves over that one?

Lin looks like a solid player, but I don't think he's any better than Dragic, who in turn isn't as good as Lowry. The main problem here is that he's helping the Knicks, not that we just gave up the next "insert superstar pg here."

More like: if 30 NBA teams couldn't see it, some random folks on the intern acting like they "knew" how good Lin would be are kind of not credible.

D'Antoni knows a thing or two about the point guard position, and it took him over a month of awful PG play and underwhelming team results as a whole to give Lin significant minutes. And yet, people think they knew Lin was a keeper just from watching him in a few preseason and summer league games ... that takes quite a bit of an ego too, doesn't it?

The only thing Morey regrets about all this is the fact that the Knicks are now benefiting from it. Lin wouldn't have gotten any PT here.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Jeremy Lin is making the Knicks must-see TV in Asia.

The NBA says Thursday its Asian TV partners have added Knicks games to their broadcast schedules following the emergence of Lin, the first American-born NBA player of Chinese or Taiwanese descent.

Sina in China will show Friday's game against the Lakers, while stations in Taiwan will televise Knicks games this month against Toronto, Sacramento, New Orleans, New Jersey and Atlanta. ESPN Philippines also added the Feb. 17 Hornets game in New York.

Lin, an undrafted guard from Harvard, has led the Knicks to three straight wins, scoring more than 20 points in each game.

Ironically, his performances are missed by many in New York. A dispute between Time Warner Cable and MSG Network is keeping the Knicks off that system.

MSG said its ratings are up 36 percent over its season average in the two games since Lin moved into the starting lineup on Monday.

Another way Stern screwed us with that veto. He knew we would have to let Lin go & the Knicks would pick him up so he could lead the Knicks into the playoffs & cost us a draft pick.:grin:

He didn't know he was this good? Did Morey watch the pre-season or camp? WTF. Nobody knew he would put up numbers like this but it was clear we should have kept him... People on here have been posting for months that Lin should be getting 30+ mins a game with the Knicks, etc.

Not only did we cut Lin whose value just sky rocketed, but he is helping the one team we need to lose. We went from having potentially two valuable assets(lol) in Lin and New York's pick to now having nothing(assuming Lin keeps it up and NY turns it around). I know it couldn't really have been foreseen (according to Morey) but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I am still a Morey supporter all in all.
