Duncan is putting up a 20+ PER. He destroyed the Rockets.

Parker and Lowry are fairly equal this point.

Parker is playing unbelievable basketball right now.

I'd love nothing more than for Lowry to make the All-Star team but it's tough to argue against what Parker is doing right now.

I think who is better is relative...Id say the spurs have a much better team over all. Rockets have basically scrubs and kevin martin/lowry (scola playing non relevant ball)

Lowry's 4 or 5 more rebounds per game probably make up the difference in points if you assume that half of those rebounds they score on and at least one is a 3 (due to transition) equals to approx 5.5 points per game.

Also, lowry is an substantially better defender both in regards to team defense and one on one defense...hard to attribute a point total to how many fewer points lowry gives up than parker but Id say that plus the rebound related scoring more then make up any difference in scoring proficiency by Parker.

Playmaking is basically the same yet lowry does it with less weapons.

All in all I would have to say lowry would get my vote looking strictly at the numbers and how much a player has an effect on the team.

Yes, why people use this to make their point is stupid.. Doesn't mean a damn thing except someone has no argument at all IMO... Parker is clearly more deserving than Mr.Lowry.... He surely won't get in over Nash nor should he this year.......Next year, it's Lowry's spot to lose.......

This is getting tiresome. What's your beef with PER? Could you even tell me how it's calculated?

PER, like any other statistic, has its limitations. But can you think of a better single stat (i.e., one number) that does a better job of approximating a player's value?

agreed PER has been stated by both morey and bill simmons as one of the better "available" statistics for tracking a players value.

also thought it was intersting that daryl morey via twitter said today that +/- is a piece to the puzzle but useless on a game by game basis.

    The eyeball statistic.

Interestingly enough, this eyeball statistic is relatively volatile. It's incredibly subjective, which is very strange indeed.

I wonder, if there is a stat out there that is objective that could summarize a players efficiency effective.

Not to go Swoly on you, but all stats are objective.

Unfortunately, "efficiency" is subjective, so you'll have trouble measuring that objectively. :p;):cool:

Damn, really wished he made it. I know he said he it didn't matter if he's an all-star but I hope this motivates him in some way.

On another note, why is Chuck so mad again? He was complaining something to Ernie but i couldn't hear what he said.
