When you are playing 3 on 4 in back court, the natural instinct is to get back a bit more to protect the rim. They were up by 3 and it's a dumb move by Nelson. But you can't deny Kobe had a lot to do with that. And the go ahead 3 in OT by fisher was a simple repro of MJ to Kerr. It's convenient you ignore that at all.

Kobe only had 4 offensive rebounds and I'd be willing to bet most of those weren't from his own misses so he wasn't geting the ball back.

    Kobe game 7 - 23/15/2/1stl shooting 25%/0%/73%

    Jordan Game 6 - 22/9/7/2stl shooting 26%/33%/91%

I'll take Jordan who had the better shooting night and got his teammates involved.

The natural instinct is to protect the rim when you aren't up 3 points. 6 foot PG's don't worry about protecting the rim....they contest on the perimiter. Fisher's long 3 didn't have jack ish to do with Kobe. There is enough in Kobe's great career to give him credit for. You fanboys need to stop inventing stuff to try and give him more credit.

When you double a guy near baseline in backcourt, and the guy passed out of double team, it started a fastbreak, simple as that. If you check that game on youtube, Nelson saw both Odom and Fisher coming at his direction, and Odom's man was behind. That's a 2-on-1 and a little sag off is just the natural instinct. Fisher did hit a long 3, but that's a fastbreak pull up. It would be much more difficult to get that look in a set offense for final shot.

Bottom line, NBA team don't double a guy in backcourt when they are up 3 with a few seconds left. They would get back early and contest in perimeter. Magic was too scared of Kobe and they were determined to let other players beat them.
