The 03/04 Detroit Pistons that won the championship.

No big stars, no 20mill player, no all star(prob. going to get alot of heat for saying this)

Just a bunch of guys that plays really good together to get the job done.

    Great bench.

Rockets to the playoffs!! Lets go!!

    Lowry - Billups
    Martin - Hamilton
    Parsons - Prince
Scola - Corliss Williamson (ofcourse we got the better guy)
    Bear - Wallace

Our bench comparison to them at the time is even better!

    What do you guys think?

A lineup of Lowry, Lee, Parsons, Patterson, and Dalembert is no slouch on defense...

I'd trade both of em for Prime Sheed alone.

They had 4 or 5 all stars, we have......

    Lowry < Billups
    Kmart < Rip
    Parsons < Tayshaun
    Scola < Sheed
    Dalem < Ben W.

    There is no comparison.

I love how everyone always brings up the 2004 Pistons as proof that you (supposedly) don't need a star to win a championship - but conveniently neglects to mention that pretty much ever other championship team in NBA history has had at least 1 HOF player on the roster.

I'd go so far to compare this team to the Bulls of '95-'96.

    Just think of it...

Luc Longley -- Dally (Both tall international players)
Dennis Rodman -- Scola (Both are recognizable by their hair alone)
Scottie Pippen -- Parsons (Both are/were small forwards in the NBA)
MJ -- KMart (Both are great at getting to the line)
Ron Harper -- Lowry (Tough defenders)

I really see potential at some point for us to go 72-10 this season, despite the shortened season. The comparison is just so easy to see.

....That girl next door that might be cute enough to hit but you are not quite sure.

So you hit it anyway because that is what you do. You enjoy it, but decide to keep it on the down low since your embarassed by your enthusiasm.

Do your buddies find out? Now that is the question. ;)

The Rockets are in the worst position in sports...mired in mediocrity. They are fun to watch and are winning games, but that will translate into more solid but not spectacular draft picks. They do not realistically have a shot at winning a title as presently constituted.

... and you're using recycled thoughts that have been debated, argued, turned down and then spit back out as if it were their own idea to begin with.

If I were to bump every thread like this comparing the two teams in the past three years we'd have the first page full of them.

I'd take being a troll in a thread like this than being the OP of a thread like this.

Well the OP said our Rockets reminds HIM of the recent championship Pistons. Who are we to argue what anything reminds the OP of?

I wouldn't want to argue whether or not it reminds him of something. Why would anyone do that?

It's what it is he is reminded of that will be up for debate (obviously) and it just so happened to be outplayed and expressed here a lot. It's not even close. I don't see any of the comparisons. He is entitled to express it. But, imo it's just a silly comparison (which he is comparing, not just trying to say "oh this reminds me of").

He also said, "what do you guys think?"

I expressed what I thought through sarcasm.
