He gave Lin props tonight on his radio show. Dude is ballin' right now, and his stats make a huge impact for the Knicks, unlike Melo.
Utah is pretty stout with Jefferson, Milsap and Kanter and Lin carved them up like turkeys. He's smart and picks his spots when he attacks, looks for a seam, if it's there he uses that quick first step to blow by his man and get that layup.
JimRaynor55, 1) no one was claiming Lin was "unathletic." at least not any basketball people... maybe racists and ignoramuses. example, the Knicks worked out Lin and they noted his superior first step and rated his agility "off the charts" 2) Yao was an all star and most dominating player in his position for a couple years. Lin is not even an all star and likely will never be in the East competing with Rose, Rondo etc. What Lin is... is a good PG in a city with a long tradition of hard nosed, talented floor generals like Starks, Mark Jackson, Kenny Anderson, Starbury etc 3) From all accounts Lin is more concerned about being friends with Jesus than being asian posterboy. the bigger story in the long run will probably be that NY has found a PG to run D'Antoni's system than Lin being Asian, like the story with Ichiro was his hitting rather than him being the first Japanese this or that. as for Yao versus Lin, probably the one distinguishing trait between Yao and Jeremy is that Jeremy has experienced a good deal of racism first hand (not being given a scholarship etc) whereas Yao really couldn't have cared less about the struggles that Asian American kids go through because of their ethnicity in this country. So maybe instead of crap like whether someone eats a shark fin Lin will work to fight discrimination in some capacity later in his career. Remember though, Christ comes first for Jeremy. And I guess Taiwan second? Don't really care haven't been paying attention (but not gonna dispute or b**** about someone's political beliefs either) Overall I don't think either Golden State or Houston "screwed up" with Lin. GS doesn't run a system conducive to bball IQ and Lin likely wouldn't have gotten off the end of the bench even if they'd kept him. Houston... well you guys all understand the deal in Houston. Lin simply is a great fit for both the coach and the players (and more importantly the areas of need) on that Knicks team.
SteveNash Steve Nash If you love sports you have to love what Jeremy Lin is doing. Getting an opportunity and exploding!! 55 minutes ago BRAND0NJENNINGS Brandon Jennings Jeremy Lin is ballin' right now...... #Respect 1 hour ago
And why is Taiwan second? http://www.hyphenmagazine.com/blog/archive/2010/09/meet-jeremy-lin-golden-state-warrior
Didn't know where to put this.....tonight's game vs Wizards, 23 points, career high 10 assists http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xso2bGDTSjg
Sorry for double post. I like how he keeps his dribble alive and he has good court vision. He will be a good 15/8 point guard even after Baron Davis, Amare, and ballhog return.
I acknowledged that it's really early right now, my post was more about hopeful optimism and how much I loved this guy's playing style. It's not what Jeremy will say himself. I expect him to just focus on playing ball like anyone else. But that's the thing though, he conducts himself like any other basketball player out there. A good and aggressive basketball player so far, but not some guy whose entire identity is based around the perception of him as "different." He speaks perfect English because he grew up in the US. He's not seen as a freak, or someone from another country. If he turns out to be just that good PG in D'Antoni's system, that will be a good thing for people's perceptions of Asians. Yao was that first step, showing that an Asian could play. If Jeremy sticks around, him just being there will help normalize the image of Asian Americans. His race wouldn't be the big issue, which is the way it should be.
Where are all those idiots saying Flynn was better and we made the right choice, Lowry down and now we get to watch flynn dribble out the shot clock with the second unit.
All Knicks need is for him to average maybe 10 pts, 8 asts with decent D when Melo and Amare come back.
Thought this was interesting, he sleeps on his brothers couch in NY. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/jeremy-lin-starts-knicks-lives-brother-living-room-225157808.html
Gotta like the nerd-quotient in the Lin-Fields handshake: Don't fight it, embrace it. "The choreographed skit features the two skimming through an imaginary book, taking off their glasses and then placing them inside pocket protectors." http://www.insidebayarea.com/oaklandtribune/localnews/ci_19922449
