I would rather send flynn then dragic....I like where your head is at but this trade leaves us a bit thin on the bench. Smith as the only BIG backup and I assume Lee backing up Lowry is your plan.

That has to be the most ridiculous "source" ever. and Pau Gasol? Yeah, Boston isn't that stupid.

I don't see how this helps either team.

Rondo dominates the ball, and can't shoot. He does not complement Kobe Bryant at all.

I dunno guys. This holds water... if Boston wants to set a record for oldest, slowest team ever assembled.

Rondo is not the answer for LA. They need a guard like Hinrich or Mo Williams who doesn't need the ball to always be in their hands to be effective.

Contrary to everyone else here it seems, I think it is a fantastic deal for Boston.

The big 3 has been awesome the last couple weeks, and when Rondo was out they looked even better because Ray/Paul/Garnett were handling the ball a little more.

    The quote is legit.

Ainge has said they're up to trade the big three for established talent to keep winning.

Kobe is getting older and LA already lost Odom.

I don't think this is as crazy as it sounds. Both teams are trying to do something to salvage another year or two before they may truly have to rebuild from almost nothing. Both franchises have a ton of pressure to just keep winning.

It's not like they can't bring in other teams to flip those guys for pieces that do fit, right?

at the time, i didn't know how stupid the perk trade was, now i do. But, if boston trades a 25 year old top 5 point guard for a 31(?) year old pau who might not and should not be on this years all star team, i dont know what to say.

if they were getting bynum, then that'd be a different story. but even then.. they'd have to add something else.

I'm surprised a lot of people here believe that the Lakers would "win" this trade. They lose a big man (along with Odom) in return for a PG that dominates that ball and might not be able to mesh with Kobe. Their only other serviceable big man is Bynum with an injury history.

Boston loses a great PG, but they probably get one of the deepest front courts in the league.

All in all, this wouldn't put either team over the edge, but I think both teams lose and gain a pretty similar value. I think the reason why a lot of people think Boston gets shafted is because Rondo is a younger player and has a longer window of productivity than Gasol, who has peaked and seems to be on the downturn.

are you kidding me? pau should not and hopefully will not be an allstar this year. he's not a top 5 pf in the game, so why should boston trade their top 5 pg for him? makes absolutely no sense.

Trade more likely to go through with Dragic than Flynn, and Boston was getting away with not sending enough out, so I updated: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=72rflhj.

I guess the line-up could look more like this:

    Lowry/Flynn
    Martin/Lee/Williams
    Pierce/Parsons/Bud
    Patterson/Morris/Johnson
    Dalembert/Smith

Here's the lowdown on JaJuan Johnson.

That's a 13-man roster, which leaves open opportunities to sign big bodies like Adrien on the cheap, and use them.

    Salary this year 2011/2012: $54,905,171
    And in 2012/2013: $$51,734,609 (minus Flynn/TWill/Bud)

The offense is different now.. They need a real PG...Rondo would help get easy baskets for Bynum , and even Kobe

Trading top 5 for top 5 doesn't exactly make sense either...
