Well he's a "Lutheran" but I've heard him say some non-Christian comments. And if the College Republicans were anything back then like they are now.... That doesn't fly with them. Main reason I only attended 1 meeting, they wanted me to do group prayer. Anyways I think he's awesome, but I think he should go for a legislative position with his ideas. But that is mainly because of my strong opinion the Pres should have military experience.
do you only vote for the candidate you think is going to win? i never said i was accomplishing anything. but actually, on the state and especially local level voting libertarian/3rd party can indeed accomplish things. but even if it didnt, so what? whats wrong w/ casting my vote in protest of the 2 party monopoly? if enough people who were fed up w/ the 2 parties starting not voting for them i think we could accomplish alot. im just waiting for others to follow suit. until then ill be here voting for the losers and twiddling my thumbs. as long as people think like you it will be. but it seems like lots of people in this country are "fed up" (to borrow a phrase from my man gov. perry) w/ R's and D's, yet they continue to vote for them. things dont change overnight, but if enough people just stop voting for R's and D's we might at least get the two parties to act properly.
exactly. that doesnt mean i should vote like everyone else. i dont care. i dont care. the supreme court got bush "elected". f*** the system - i refuse to play the game.
So what exactly is going on today? Romney has all the momentum in the world with two big wins and an aura of inevitability; Santorum has been an afterthought since Iowa. And yet, Santorum is probably going to win 2 of the 3 contests today. It's not like Santorum has been out-campaigning everyone in those states like he did for a year in Iowa. And Missouri is a pretty big and diverse state, so it's not like there are unique demographics that play to Santorum's strengths. What happened?
My opinion? I've said it before... Romney's support is a mile wide and an inch deep within the party. He has high negatives within the GOP for a candidate seen as "inevitable" (and I'm not arguing that he's seen that way). Many Republicans don't trust him, for various reasons, the main ones, in my opinion, being his record as governor (seen as too moderate), his frequent flip-flops on what "the base" sees as core issues, just look at his record as governor and then look at what he's saying now, and his religion. The last I consider unfair, but I think it is significant. I also know that not everyone agrees with me on that, but that's my opinion.
And in Minnesota, Romney actually beat McCain comfortably there in 2008 and yet is going to finish 3rd this year.
LMFAO, this is hilarious....Romney can't beat these clownish people who barely bother to show up, with all his millions of dollars of unregulated SuperPac cash and with the Very Serious Establishment People blessing. Oh man. I know what this calls for. MOAR DEBATES!
Lets see how he does now after he fired the debate coach because the media gave the coach too much credit.
My impression is that Republican turnout in these caucus and primary states has been down, compared to '08. Is my impression accurate, mc mark? If true, it's another bad sign for the GOP in this election cycle. He didn't seriously do that, did he?
This would be pretty amazing if he manages to lose Colorado. Still unlikely, but that was a state he dominated in 2008.
In Florida and SC, turnout was up in areas that Romney lost and down in areas that Romney did well. 538 is reporting similar reports early in Colorado: Here's why Mitt Romney is vulnerable to a loss in Colorado tonight. Although indications are that turnout is down in the Denver suburbs, where Mr. Romney runs strongly, the same is not true in outlying areas of the state, where he is losing by a wide margin to Rick Santorum.
WOW! I'm stunned. I've been saying that this guy might be beaten in these primaries. If he continues to make decisions like that, he deserves to lose. I love it when my hunches and "gut feeling" turn out to be based on some reality. ;-)- Thanks, Major.
Money. Who are the third party candidates? I honestly wouldn't know until I showed up to the poll to vote. My father, in the 1980's, was campaigning for Ron Paul before Ron Paul was the Ron Paul of today...before he was popular...before he had the money. Nowadays, my dad does not give two ****s about Ron Paul because he is no longer running on his prior libertarian principles. Third party voting is throwing your vote away. Let's take a look at the past 100 or so years of successful third pary candidates: Teddy Roosevelt, Eugene Levy and Ross Perot. That is about it. When was the last time third party candidates had any long term success? When the Whig party was going to hell? It's been a while.
