Is including "career likely done" really necessary?

Career likely done, wow. He was so excited to be a part of this project and to see where this team would go. I'm sure he had great impact on the young guys. Would be really sad for the NBA if he left, hope he's not done. :(

I think he's referring to Billups saying he'd retire if an "unfit" team signed him after he was waived.

Maybe the Clippers will inquire about Flynn, too.

Don't see anything on their roster (that they would trade) who we'd want.

Sucks for Billups, sucks for the team (even if our giant loss was their giant gain, trade-wise).

I think that's the reference too, so my response from here is not directed at you at all.

An employee has every right to say "if I don't end up at the right firm, I'll just change careers or retire." Everyone in the US should have that right. To say it's "karma" to end up with a career-ending injury is just not very bright or logical, IMHO.

He didn’t say he would retire; there’s NO way he’d give up $14M. He basically said he would become a team cancer if a team he didn’t like picked him up.

“I’m tired of being the glue guy,” Billups told Yahoo! Sports by phone on Saturday afternoon. “I’m tired of being viewed as the good guy. After a while, you just kind of get taken advantage of in these situations. I’ve been known as a leader, and I am a leader, but a leader can be as disruptive as he can be productive, especially when you carry a strong voice and people rally around you. This is about me now. This is about me, and teams should know that right now.”

Pretty off-putting remarks by him, but yeah he’s always been known as a good guy otherwise. Sucks for him that his career’s over and he won’t get to play in the Olympics.

Ruptured/torn Achilles for a basketball player usually is a career ender. Being 35 certainly doesn't help.

Really? OK, maybe, I agree with you in a way, Mr. Ice.

Javal should have gone with, "Billups did warn teams he would only play for the Lakers and Heat. He is just following through with his threat."

During the Pistons reign, Chauncy was once considered the best pg in the league and world. I'm talking about 03/04. Tough luck Chauncy.

To come back from a ruptured Achilles at 35 and be able to play NBA-level point (quickest position in the league)....it's not "likely"

I think "career likely done" is fair to say.

I wonder if they'd offer a first rounder for Dragic?
