http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/robocop-nick-schenk-script-mgm-286227 MGM has hired Gran Torino screenwriter Nick Schenk to work on the screenplay for RoboCop. Jose Padilha is attached to direct the action sci-fi reboot. The CAA-repped Schenk had been working with Padilha, who co-wrote and directed Elite Squad: The Enemy Within, on the action thriller Tri-Border. The writer also has the original drama The Judge set up at Warner Bros. with Team Downey producing. MGM has been developing a new take on the RoboCop franchise, which launched with the 1987 film directed by Paul Verhoeven, for years. The studio is hoping for a summer start, but no one has yet been cast in the title role.
They could do a lot with this. I'm hoping that it's some sort of Pre-Ghost in the Machine type scenario.
Who the hell is Joe Pedphilla? Didn't Darren Arronfosky want to direct this?? That would have been insane! =(
Also, the Total Recall remake is looking pretty nice IMO, so maybe this 80's action remake trend is going to work out?
i hope so, but they'll probably take out all the gore and language so they can get a pg13 rating. the originals tried everything they could to make you squirm a little, pure blood and guts awesome.
First The Lorax, now this. Just remake The Meaning of Life and Christmas Vacation, and my childhood finally dies.
a remake of My Life that starred Michael Keaton would be badass. a remake of My Life that starred Michael Keaton would be badass.
I hope the music stays the same, it's timeless like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Deep Cover. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/B1K1bAWgSjU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Won't be the same without the ultra violence, and Robocop had a sensational cast of character actors. Perhaps the best lineup of villains in any B movie ever.
(Cannot embed) You cannot do a proper remake for Robocop without this guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdZqKVcI9m8&feature=related
Well, Spielberg was able to take B-movie scripts and add full orchestras and top-shelf cinematography and stunt-work; I guess a nice pair of t*** and half-a-GDP's worth of CGI could make this afterbirth watchable.
