It wouldn't be for a center if they are bringing up Smith, unless Dalembert is going out in the deal. If there is a trade pending I'm stumped who it would be for. But then Morey tends to blindside us a lot so yeah.
That's interesting, I was sure defense was Lin's strength coming into the league. He did a pretty good job on Williams and Harris.
Thabeet is there because Morey believes (probably rightly so) that SOME GM out there is going to be hypnotized by the possibility of having the #2 in that year's draft, a 7-footer, young... maybe HE can be the guy who brings him in and finally gets him to blossom into a useful NBA big. Somebody somewhere is going to go for it, and we will get something useful in return. That is the only reason he is still on the roster. Because frankly, Thabeet should be wearing a helmet. All the time.
Right, but he would have even if the lockout had stayed in place. In fact, it was the lockout that got him back overseas. Rockets might have had two lottery picks had the season been lost. I know you can't make fantasy team comparisons to a professional team, but the Rockets to me are very much like one. They so badly need a 2-for-1 or 3-for-1 trade. They hoard value, don't play some guys who could get time elsewhere and have little flexibility with their roster spots. Team needs to make a trade, and soon.
Wow I am so glad we're not losing out on 2nd prized rookie steal Greg Smith. Any idiot with eyes can see that both him and Lin were really solid players and worth a spot on our team, but instead we got stuck with Thabeet and Flynn. At least now the Rox are learning from leaving out Lin and making sure that Smith will stay on the team. A lot of the posters here seem to think he's some random scrub, and yeah I guess at this point he is. BUT, he's got all the right tools to be successful, and while not franchise player caliber I think he can be a very decent player for us (same thing with Lin).
Interesting thought, actually. This seems to me either as Flynn is being shipped out in a 2-1 and/or another team was sniffing around Smith.
Actually Thabeet's here cuz he's a 5M expiring. That's really useful because outside of the 09ers, all we have are really good players on cheap (compared ot their skill level) contracts. One stumbling block to a 2-for-1 or 3-for-1 trade would be we'd have to include a butt load of players to get a player we like if he has a large salary. Thabeet's expiring would go a long way towards solving that, as well providing cap relief to the other team,
I went to the Vipers-Toros game last Wednesday. I wasn’t at all impressed with Smith. It was my first time seeing him play live, he isn’t a high motor guy. Doesn’t appear to have a high BBIQ either. Just seemed lackadaisical out there. Had a very hard time getting position in the low post. Physically he’s a beast but doesn't seem to have any fire.
They're gonna drop Adrien. Flynn may very well be traded but not as a result of this move. We are going after Dwight.
Why are you so obsessed with Dwight? Do you have a source? If anything, I think we'd be the third wheel in a Dwight trade.
I think this is no-doubt what they are trying to achieve (something big like the Pau Gasol deal), but those are hard to pull off. In the absence of such a deal, I imagine they'll make some "value renewal trade" where a current rotation player (especially one whose contract is about to expire) is sent out for future considerations, thus opening up minutes for guys behind them in the rotation. Sort of like what happened with Shane Battier.
LOL, if you've read all the threads he's started... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/14Dgw_LSJ5w?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
A guy getting pissed isn't the worst thing in the world. Budinger's DNP-CDs seemed to work out OK for his subsequent performance.
I'm obsessed with Dwight because he is a legitimate superstar, the best player in the league at the center position, that is coming into his prime, and that could be locked up for the next 5 years alongside one of the best point guards in the business. Why aren't you obsessed?
I know why Thabeet is still on roster. Just was making reference that it's obvious contracts dictate who stays most times. Even though the fringe non-guaranteed players play more dedicated than some guys who are just happy collecting checks that was given to them because of their "potential"
I'd bet that Adrien goes to the vipers until the roster clears out a little bit, then come back afterwards.
