I'm sure he'll be frustrated but he got injured and hasn't gotten enough practice after recovering from that injury.
It's a bit weird to me that Smith isn't a better rebounder in the D-league given his size, athleticism, and hands. Makes me think he must not be giving full effort on the glass, or just has really bad positioning. Maybe he will be extra-motivated with the big club.
Sure it is the guy is a 20 year old big guy with skills....if he works out great, if not...no risk. DD
http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2012/02/rockets-close-to-signing-d-league-star-greg-smith/ It reads like they are cutting Adrein, were they showcasing him last night? DD
D-League run and gun game, remember. He's rebounding at almost the same rate as Sam Dalembert but he's doing it in the D-League.
Last day today for Jeremy Lin before his contract becomes guaranteed -- same for Adrien. He got robbed... one day after he finally contributes to the team. It's not been a good year for the Rockets front office so far. In fact, I'm still struggling to find a positive for the Rockets' future from the lockout being lifted.
Yep, announcements like these don't happen right before a trade goes down. That means that Adrien must be getting cut. The timing of it suggests that also.
The average NBA game has about 85.7 available rebounds (42.8 per team). The average Vipers game has about 85.5 available rebounds.
I think we can sort of give them credit for getting the Gasol deal done, while spitting in Stern's face for vetoing it. I guess this doesn't really qualify as something the FO has done since the lockout lifted, but during that time Motiejunas has emerged as being a really great value where we picked him.
Actually, it arguably worked out well for Adrien. If he was gonna get cut, it's good to have last night's game on his resume as he searches for a job. Dalembert is sort of a positive move, no? I mean, his recent games have sucked but overall he's useful and on a team-friendly contract.
Why would they showcase a player not on their roster? They wanted him in because the other guys weren't playing well.
Adrien played tougher last night than some of the other bigs have all season. To think Thabeet is sitting in street clothes making all that guaranteed money.
Just when we are cleared of Yao and McGrady's contracts, Morey's first big move gets veto'ed. And we will still be feeling it for years.
It could be that they played him yesterday as a courtesy to let other teams get a look at him so he gets picked up. Im not sure if that was the real thought process last night. Look, Jordan/Hasheem arent cutting it and Dally truely needs a quality backup. I like Adrien alot, but he's only going to be able to contribute in small ball lineups. The Rockets have to have real size in a backup Center. I get where the frustration lies with the front office, but this move seems to make sense even though it sucks for Adrien they might actually be doing him a favor to hook up with a team that wants to give him a major role.
Only until the trade deadline though......there is no way they keep him, Flynn or TWill beyond that.....at least I would not believe they would. DD
