Tony parker wasn't a serviceable 3 point shooter for alot of his career. Irving is shooting 40%! That's truly special for a rookie.
How many times have I heard this before, but with different names? I don't know. I just can't get that hyped up about a point guard anymore. Because being a top PG and an offense that centers around that PG simply does not win championships.
This is the exact same thing that comes to my mind when I think of Irving. People are nuts thinking Rubio is better or will be better. Rubio has reached his ceiling already I feel.
He's already a more efficient scorer than Rose overall, from 3, free throw, averaging 4 less points but playing less minutes. The difference Rose got drafted to a playoff team while Cavs were one of the worst. He's also clutch and calm in pressure situations. If he can improve everything else he's a future superstar, his offense is already set. Remember he's a rookie and only NINETEEN.
The way he creates space between him and the defender reminds me of chris paul. His shot selections are good, can penetrate and finish, good court vision if not Rubio-esque... I'd take him over Lowry
Definitely Impressive, he's definitely the better player between him and Rubio right now, however I would still take Ricky Rubio's upside over Irving's. Rubio's upside : Jason Kidd meets Steve Nash Irving's upside : Bigger (Less Athletic) Chris Paul
You're comparing a 19 yo rookie to a 6-yr veteran? Kyrie is way too skilled to be a bust; you rarely see a PG at that age that skilled in so many facets of the game. Cleveland is very fortunate to have a guy like that to build around. His main weakness is defense and experience. The reason his minutes are not higher b/c of defense, something Scott points out repeatedly. With more experience, he'll be a much better playmaker. He'll challenge for top 3 PG NEXT YEAR even. Rondo/WB/Rose have been in the league for 3+ years now and they can't even shoot as well as this guy.
