Lowry looks back to normal to me in the last 3 games. 15 ppg, 9 apg, 4 rpg, 2 spg, 2 tpg, 56.3 TS%, better defensive effort.
Why am I responding to it? I brought it up, his career is 109, which isn't elite, hell it isn't even decent.
Need to be careful with DRTG. Team defense is a big part of it, and since PGs aren't asked to rebound and block shots usually their DRTG will be even more dependent on the team's defense. Lowry has been a good defender his entire career, but because he's been playing on bad defensive teams it has dragged down his DRTG. The trend throughout his career has been that his team plays better defense with him on the court. I'm not going to go as far as Mr. Clutch and say he's an elite defender. I've seen him involved in too many defensive breakdowns this year (though he was better at the start of the season, and he's been better the last 3 games).
He's one of them players you cant judge him in comparison to others... He's just a NBA player that happens to play the PG position... If he were taller he would make a great point forward....He plays like one
wasn't sure where to post this, but here seems appropriate http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/ian_thomsen/02/06/alternate.all.stars/index.html?eref=sihp&sct=hp_wr_a1
One thing to note is that Lowry's drtg is up drastically this year, to 101, ahead of the guys widely considered elite. Perhaps the new system and defensive focus along with reduced pace is helping out in that regard. Hollinger also believes Lowry was robbed of all nba defensive first team last year. Another inteteresting thing I noiticed is his assist ratio is the same as years past but his assist average is up. What's up with that? Also, despite his poor shooting, his TS% is not bad because he is getting to the line more and shooting more 3's As far as defense I dont think its a shut case that he's elite, but Im highly impressed that he has kep up the intensity on that end despite his increased role and success on the offensive end. Lowry does not take plays off.
I think the biggest factors here are Scola's decline due to age and the new foul rules killing Martin. Would have been interesting to see this system last year.
You're kidding right??.... Are you that into BS stats and made-up acronyms that you can't "dumb it down" enough to figure that out?... This is why geeks should stay away from sports..The internet/technology has made everybody a GM now..smh.. I'm still stuck in the 90's way of thinking...Aplologies!!!!
Lowry will not be a top 6 pg until his performance is more consistent, and is a bigger threat on the offensive side (again) more consistently. Lowry also needs to be a bigger difference maker in clutch situations when the defense is playing at 150%. D.Rose C. Paul D.Williams R. Westbrook R. Rondo ^^ Kyle doesn't crack that yet.
Um yeah, Rondo shoots 50% from the field, and lowry shoots 40%. We all know Rondo can't make jumpshots which must mean he can make a damn LAYUP if his fg% is 50%. Rondo is a better defender than Lowry and for DAMN sure is a better creator off the dribble. If Rondo was on the Rockets his averages would be much higher because he would be carry much more of the offensive load. I love Lowry but, Rondo > Lowry.
parker is currently averaging a career high of 7.7 assists per game. he recently became the spurs all time assists leader. a guy many posters on this board claimed was done a few years ago after he had a bad year coming back from a major injury.
He played like Aaron Brooks tonight, bombs away and he made shots, I like that style...if only he could keep it up. DD
You're acting like he hasn't been doing this since last season and 1/3 of this season. And if he did look like Aaron Brooks, it would be his ability to make shots only. He is more like Brooks with terrific defense and ability to run the floor.
