Lets put it this way, I even if the scum robber wanted to harm the two men or not robbing the phone, I wouldn't even want anyone that I love or care for near/around or same room with the robber that was/is a criminal.

and besides those men were pumped with adrenaline and couldn't second guess what they were doing at the time

The defender was a wrestler in high school. Not a martial artist.

The guy below is attacking you or your buddy. Do you hit him as hard as you can? Or do you hold back?

Re-read the story. The robber put his friend in a headlock of his own.

A lot of people are jumping to conclusions, in my opinion. For all we know, the fellow who acted to protect his friend, and himself, from assault and robbery may feel terrible that he killed the would-be thief. We weren't there. From the report, the two gentlemen were violently assaulted when they didn't do what was demanded of them by a stranger. It was very late at night. Based on what little we know, the two men were alone when this happened, with no help in sight. I think the fact that the person who killed the assailant was a former high school wrestler has no bearing on anything. He could have been a former high school spelling champion and done something that could have led to the same result. When the assailant made the decision to assault two complete strangers, for whatever reason, he took an awful risk. That risk didn't pay off. And now, someone has to live the rest of his life knowing that he killed this man. For many people, that would be quite a burden to carry.

If the robber wants to put himself in that position he deserves it.

These guys have NO IDEA (nor do any of us), what weapons the robber may have been carrying and if the robber would've attacked them had they let go.

I have no problem with this guy's death. It would've been better had everyone known EXACTLY what everyone else was going to do, but you have to worry about yourself first.

If this guy was stealing the cell phone for lets say drug money, druggies will do ANYTHING to get their next fix.

Omg just reread the story, and now knowing the robber HAD attacked him, makes me even more ok with the murder.

I can't believe any of you guys are defending the robber. He tries to steal AND harm someone in the middle of the night. You do ANYTHING in your power to stop him and that includes killing him.

High school wrestlers or competitive wrestlers in general are strong as fruck, I would much rather fight a TKD blackbelt or a Karate blackbelt than a really good high school wrestler.

It was probably why he choked the guy to death to, in wrestling or grappling you are trained to go at 100% power, must have been a pretty tight head lock. I doubt a spelling bee champion knows how to apply a lethal hold without any previous grappling experience.

But then again, I don't feel sorry for the robber, but I will say it was excessive force being used by the wrestler guy.

Heck, Deck . . . do we really know he tried to rob them?
What is the source of that part of the story . . .the killer and his friend?
not exactly the most unbiased of people . . . .

I say leave it . . .nothing will come of it either way

So you really think these 2 guys were just out looking for a victim to jump and choke to death? A victim who just happens to have priors for assault and theft?

Classic Rocket River. Defending the black guy to the death even though he's a multiple-time convict.

Absouletly that guy should have a bullet to the skull, much cheaper than paying for him to live in a federal prison.

Also, Junkyward Dawg (where are you, Dawg?) would have been acceptable.
