No just no... No way in the world is he better than Steve Nash and Westbrook is still a PG, regardless.
His D rating this year is 101, better than Chris Paul, Westbrook, and Rondo. He is indeed an elite defensive point guard.
Yeah, except that he can't stay in front of pretty much any PG on the floor these days. Other than that, sure I guess he is elite....if all you go by are meaningless made up algorythmic stats, instead of actually watching the game and understanding what you are seeing on the floor. Then sure ! DD
If lowry can develop a parker-like teardrop, then yes. That is seriously all he needs. He can shoot but he is afraid of driving because he won't get the calls. Once he develops the teardrop though, he will be a top 5 pg.
He can stay in front of many PGs, hence the high DRating. Other PG's can't seem to stay in front of Lowry. Or box him out for that matter. #1 rebounding point guard to boot.
He's decent from mid range. He just doesn't shoot from there enough. His shots are either threes or flopping when he drives. He NEVER tries to finish. He goes up in the air, looks around for a while, and tries to bump into the other guy and falls.
Box him out, do you know how silly that is to be happy that our PG rebound the ball? He should be releasing and be an outlet target, not rebounding the basketball. And no, he can't stay in front of many PGs, and the fact that you say that means you are defensive and not watching what is going on with this team. I know how it is Mr. Clutch, I felt the same way when people criticized Brooks, turns out, he deserved it. And, so does Lowry. DD
Made the same argument a few days ago, your PG being good at rebounding shows how small and weak your frontline is. That's a negative, not a positive.
Actually your PG being good at rebounding just shows your PG is good at rebounding. Magic Johnson averaged over 7 rebounds per game. Was Kareem a bad rebounder? BTW, are you going to respond to the DRating thing? You brought it up, after all. And Lowry is better than the elite defensive PGs by that stat.
No it means that your pg goes after the ball to get you another posession. If he leaks out and the other team gets a board, its an easy bucket for them. Lowry can still get the rebound, then look down the court. it isn't dallys fault that lowry steals his boards
I think you're underrating the importance of Lowry's rebounds. Neither of our two front-court players (Dalembert, Scola) are particularly good outlet passers. That's why it helps to have guards who can grab rebounds and then push the ball up the floor. Jason Kidd used to be brilliant at that, and Lowry isn't half-bad at it.
Others can and should be rebounding the ball, Lowry should be leaking out to start the break as that is his strenght, running a team and controlling the tempo are his weaknesses. Half court = average Lowry. Transition = Elite Lowry. More transition = better team. DD
