That's not my point. My point is if you hate someone because you assume his skin color is the reason for his popularity, then that is racist. And we're talking about this thread, where the majority of posters are more interested in his game than his race.

i do think Lin gets hate for being asian but I don't think assuming popularity based on race is racist at all. So much of pop culture is based on race and appearances. It is very fair to say that Eminem has gotten way more attention than he would have as a black rapper while at the same time saying that he has gotten a lot of hate and had to overcome obstacles breaking into the game as a white rapper. Your statement that assuming someone's popularity has to do with race makes you a racist just isn't correct because a lot of popularity has to do with race and especially when someone of a certain race excels at something that doesn't have a lot of contributors/stars of that race.
My point from the beginning is that GlenRice discredits on Lin for his race. Yi Jianlian is off the maps, there are a lot of Asian players that no one cares about in the NBA. For example, how often did you hear of Sun Yue when he was in the NBA? To assume a player's popularity is only attributed to his race, then hate on his game because of it, is racist and ignorant. That's my point.
That is a completely different point and I agree with that. Your original hypo or question to Glen was not properly addressing that issue. You framed the question in a way to get a positive response even though it really wouldn't be proof of what you were accusing him of and that's why I commented on it. It took you a real long time to frame your issue into what it really was. If you would have just admitted that your original hypo was more of a trick than an actual way to prove something these posts that you think were unnecessary could have been avoided.

You don't think people will blow up about Ish Smith if he had 25 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists after we traded him to Memphis? And it's liar, not lair. Go look at the NBA section, there's a thread about Lin and it's 3 pages long. C'mon why is it so hard to say "I like Jeremy Lin because his Asian and I'm also Asian"?
Once again that by itself doesn't make someone racist. If he he's hating on Lin because he gets extra popularity because he is Asian that does not make him a racist and Lin does get extra attention because he is asian. However, it does appear that he is calling you a racist by saying that you only like him because he is Asian which I don't agree with.
