course not, cuz if he were canadian/white/black, no one would be arguing so much about race. besides, he said he wouldnt root for him if he sucked. lin hasnt played enough to really know. you dont see threads talking about yi. lin is exciting and frustrating cuz we dont know what we'll get from him yet so why shouldnt people root for him and hope he does well?
There is nothing wrong with answering yes to that question and doing so doesn't make you racist at all if that's what you are getting at by asking.
There were plenty of YI threads when he was getting minutes in the legue. There was a thread about him smiling during games for god sake. Lin is still a scrub, I'll change my mind if he puts another 25 points in a game this season. Im willing to make bet. If Lin scores 25 points or over this season again I'll kiss a donkeys ass.
No it doesn't. Example. I don't like that Chris got into UT because he is black and was accepted because of affirmative action. The person isn't hating on Chris he is hating on affirmative action. He doesn't like the unfair benefits Chris gets because of the color of his skin and not the literal color of his skin. So to say would you be mad at Chris if he wasn't black the answer would be of course not because affirmative action wouldn't apply to him.
If Lin was Asian would he be getting this much attention? If Lin wasn't Asian would he get a poster like GlenRice b****ing about his game? If GlenRice wasn't in Dervy would he be selling hair gel?
No. The point is GlenRice is assuming that Lin is only getting attention because he is Asian, disregarding the possibility that he might actually be a decent player. So I'm saying, would GlenRice be assuming the same thing if the player wasn't Asian?
Lin gets more attention because he is an Asian basketball player and that is almost a fact. Yao got more attention because he was Asian and got voted into the All Star game his rookie year because he is an Asian. Jason Sehorn was a good corner but he got more attention than usual because he was the only white corner back in football. Don't be blind to how the world works.
I'm actually willing to be that if Lin was a black or white player out of Harvard, he'd be getting a good amount of attention and GlenRice would be on the bandwagon. To the other poster, DeVry boy has actually come out and blatantly said that he doesn't like Chinese people because he "had a bad experiment with one." His words, not mine.
Stop your straw man argument. I'm not arguing whether it's true or not. I'm arguing that it's a fact that if Lin wasn't Asian GlenRice wouldn't be discrediting his game.
