May do a Sunday matinee on this. 90% on RT so far: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/chronicle/ Anyone else have plans to check this out?
I'll be going at some point this weekend probably. That and the Woman in Black have both gotten some pretty good reviews.
Saw it this afternoon, it was surprisingly good. The movies previews definitely do NOT give anything away, so you will still pretty much be going in cold. It's not perfect, but it's very very good. I would give it an 8.5/10 Go see it
Saw it last night. I went in with low expectations (even though it had good reviews). It was refreshingly good, even though I don't normally like movies like this.
It's not necessarily a "found footage" film. If you get motion sickness from films shot at these types of perspectives, that's another story.
Cloverfield was kind of like that but it had only one camera guy following the whole event, it wasn't all too bad.. How is this one shot?? Are there different narratives and a lot of shaky cam style???
I never saw Cloverfield, so I can't give you a totally accurate comparison of the two. I would think they are fairly close, though. It's shot by mostly one of the characters, and the camera is pretty shaky. At times, it's downright crazy. I would say it is probably the most effective use of this kind of filming I've seen, though. In general, it's shot in a first person point-of-view type deal. A couple different characters shoot (either trading off the camera, or at one point, a different character with her own camera). A very small portion towards the end is shot in a different manner. If you can stand that type of filming, you should see the movie - it's good.
Saw it last night. I agree with what some others have said on here - it's good but not great. It has its flaws, but they aren't too glaring. Product placement is a tad much.
if you can watch through the trailer without getting motion sickness, you probably won't get sick from the movie either. it's basically shot the same way as a regular movie, with the use of multiple camera angles and non-POV camera shots (through the use of telekinesis). i hardly noticed any shaky cam at all.
Spoiler Yeah, right. Did you really think he'd live? I called it at the beginning of the movie. It really pissed me off. My girlfriend and I thought it was really well done. I give it an 8.5/10. I'd give it a 9, but I reserve that for the best movies I've seen.
