Because since he's in such a bad situation...he wants to act like he's too good to be around there. IT helps his image....what a punk.
Maybe because the Nets supporting cast isn't that good to begin with then factor in Brook Lopez and other players getting hurt.
Hey look, Deron has starts off the season bad and everyone thinks he is a terrible player. Reminds me of the time when CP3 had that bad year after his injury and everyone started saying CP3 wont ever be good again. Now look where he's at... How easily people forget... oh how easily people forget...
And lets be real.. Kyle Lowry has a 6 million dollar contract.. but we ALL know he is worth WAAAAY more than 6 million. Lowry is being underpaid while Deron is at the right price. 16 mill for him is the correct price for him and I wouldnt even say it'd be bad if he got paid more. Sometimes this board disappoints me..
This was referenced before and why I would save the $10mil and stick with Lowry.... ESPN.com : http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7...er-says-lying-karl-malone-unreliable-unstable That makes me really uneasy when a max contract is involved. Nobody says that Dwight isn't willing to practice or is uncoachable.
You think Denver has a legitimate shot at winning a title? You think Houston has a legitimate shot at winning a title?
Fact: 1) Deron is playing with scrubs makes him look worse, Deron's current stock that has dipped. 2) Lowry has played out of his mind to start the season, now has some struggles. Lowry's value is DEFINITELY near max value. He may have a little more room to grow, but I think what we saw at the beginning of the season is what we have to expect from Lowry. 3) We CAN'T win a championship as currently constructed. 4) We have a LOW probability of attracting a superstar (like Dwight) without having a superstar. Sorry Dwight isn't going to see Lowry in a good year and be like "boy o boy, this guy can become a superstar, let me team up with him because I don't have the option to go to ANY team I want." OF COURSE you parlay someone who is peaking for someone who is in a slump with MUCH more potential. Do you guys not remember Deron and Boozer frustrating the hell out of us in the post season? Considering Boozer hasn't been good since him and Deron split up, leads me to believe Deron had more to do with us losing to them than Boozer. You ignore contracts because fact is you need 2-3 max contract SUPERSTARS to win a title in this league, so you gamble if you think you can get. Absolute worst case, Deron gets pissed off being alone in Houston and sucks and we are essentially tanking (have a chance to pick up a superstar in the draft). I think the Mavericks last year were the exception and imo only won because of the media's bashing of Westbrook got in his head (he is a young guy, that can happen), and obviously Heat's choke job. This year who has a chance to win? 1) Heat (3 Max Superstars) 2) Thunder (2 Max Superstars) 3) Clippers (2 Max Superstars <-- not sure if Blake is max yet, but his next contract for sure will be) 4) Bulls (Breaks my rule, but Rose is RIDICULOUS. He is like what Lebron was to Cleveland. I don't think anyone except him, Lebron, and Wade could carry a team pretty much singlehandedly). I don't believe any other team has a realistic shot. Denver looks good in shortened season because they have young legs and high altitudes (in better shape). Philly and Indiana can win a round, but they aren't getting past the Bulls or the Heat. Lakers, Spurs, and Mavs are too old. You take gambles in this league to win it all and not be mediocre. The gambles get paid off one way or another. Either you are a contender for the title OR your plan backfires and you tank without tanking.
There are so many gambles with Deron that i dont want him unless im in a dream world and everything is perfect... Lowry should stay and get better for us as an old school style star. His contract is way under what it should be and he is a strong point for us, lets focus on weak positions like small forward. Lets stop trying to improve what doesnt need to be improved.
Ok which superstar do you have a chance to get at SF? Without a superstar this team is not going to be anything better than middling competitors without any titles.
Dude, youre one of those people that think Robert Horry is better than Lebron because he has six more championships than him. I wasnt saying anything about a title. My personal opinion is the Rockets are Evenly matched with denver. And Denver has no superstar. And if the rockets would believe in themselves instead of being a two decade long choke artist, than i would say the current team has the potential to make it to the conference finals. But since this team has something wrong with their heads they are stuck in being a #5-8 seed. The only true threat in the West are the Clippers and Thunder. Everything else is just NBA glitter. If the rockets would believe in themselves, they could beat the thunder....but like I said, since they are choke artists...I dont like the rockets against anyteam in a playoff series until they start playing like a real basketball team that actually strikes psychological fear in their opponent, the NBA is not scared of these Rockets. Even though I believe the players we have can do it physically they cant do it mentally.
This thread reminds me of this: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=67963 Clutchfans does not change over the years. Superstars are there to be had when there are PROBLEMS. Superstars that are fully content aren't going to be given away. I'm sure the homers here will say, "but we didn't win with Tmac and we would've with Francis and Mobley" and to that I say you guys are out of your mind. Tmac and Yao gave us the best chance to win. We were the injury bug and a couple of better role players away from winning it all.
Wow, finally someone who sees the NBA for what it really is. I totally agree with your projections. Thunder Clippers Bulls Heat Indiana and Philly. These are the only real good teams in the NBA. The rest of it is just media glitter bull crap.
We dont need a superstar! We need to have no bad players( hasheem, flynn, adrien, maybe T-will) and have mostly good players(Scola, Martin, Lowry.) We do need someone to tie the whole thing together but that player doesnt need to be a superstar. Look at Chicago, the only superstar they have is Rose, thats it. Then they have average or slightly above average players to back him. No bad players there, and they have a great shot at a title! I'm not saying thats the answer, i don't even think theres a player that can do this that is in the league now. Any suggestions?
Rose is better than ANY 2 of our players COMBINED. Saying they only have Rose is like saying in a pickup game with elementary kids, you ONLY have the only HSer there. Rockets aren't getting a superstar without tanking. Clutchfans doesn't want to take any risks meaning: 1) Clutchfans wants to trade for no superstars with any problems (so you have no chance to get one). 2) Clutchfans wants you not to tank to get a chance to draft a superstar (so you have no chance to get one @ a 14th pick) I'm sorry a team of role players is NOT going to win, and the Rockets need to get one to attract a superstar (yes this superstar will likely be a bit disgruntled too because if they aren't they aren't going anywhere).
