James led Miami to a 16-5 record in JAN , matching the best start to a season in franchise history. He averaged 29.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists.

Bryant averaged a league-high 30.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists while leading the Lakers to a 13-9 record. On January 1 at Denver, Bryant became the youngest player in NBA history to score 28,000 points.

I agree with Lebron; not so much with Kobe. 13-9 is not good enough to be POM. What is OKC's winning percentage again?

Kobe is the only they have that record. When his team is bad, he isn't.

The Lakers have two of the best bigs in the league in Bynam and Gasol. They are a good team, at least on paper. 13-9 is nothing special.

Bynum's played well, but Gasol has been inconsistent. And outside of those two, there's not much depth to that team at all. 13-9 isn't shocking.

Kobe deserves it for playing at a high level with a busted wrist. Guys like Boozer would have sat out the season, lesser players like Wade would have played but sucked on the court.

He might not be as good as MJ, but IMHO when it comes to competitive drive, inner will and focus Kobe's in a level of his own. At the very least he didn't retire from bball 2 times like MJ did.
