Just looked at the standings and realized that the Knicks are 7 games below .500 and only two and a half games out of the playoffs. That is disgusting.
Yes it does. It would have been devastating if the Knicks had won tonight, so at least we can breath a sigh of relief.
Some of you guys are getting too excited since we have alot of the season left. Yeah I want this pick as high as possiable without it being in the top 3 but in the east you can be in last place, and go on a 2 game winning streak to get back in the playoff hunt. Just take it easy guys.
It's like a fun side bet on the season and while I agree that in the east you can make it to the playoffs a lot easier you should go take a look at the Knick's March and April schedules. It might be the hardest schedule in the league for that two month stretch. If they don't turn things around soon they are in serious trouble.
This. Knicks already dropped a ton of games at home to bad teams. The schedule in March and April is BRUTAL.
I bolded the current playoff teams (20 of 29 games, with 16 total road games). And I see a lot of 3 in 4 night sets. at Boston 3/4 at Dallas 3/6 at San Antonio 3/7 at Milwaukee 3/9 Philadelphia 3/11 at Chicago 3/12 Portland 3/14 Indiana 3/16 at Indiana 3/17 Toronto 3/20 Philadelphia 3/21 at Toronto 3/23 Detroit 3/24 Milwaukee 3/26 Orlando 3/28 at Atlanta 3/30 Cleveland 3/31 at Indiana 4/3 at Orlando 4/5 Chicago 4/8 at Chicago 4/10 at Milwaukee 4/11 Washington 4/13 Miami 4/15 Boston 4/17 at New Jersey 4/18 at Cleveland 4/20 at Atlanta 4/22 LAC 4/25 at Charlotte 4/26
So far we only got Martin for giving up TMAC and Landry. JJ and Hill were/are useless. So this draft pick better be in the 5-12 range to get Morey over the top. Other wise if we get a so so pick, then the Knicks can hold their heads high regarding the TMAC trade. Without us getting a high pick means they would have gave away nothing - just JJ, Hill and a mid range pick.
Who the hell's JJ? Anyway Tmac's value back then was like negative, he was clearly too sucky to play in the team, and he was tying cap room up. Even in the worst case scenario wherein the Knicks get number 1 and we let Hill go, we still managed to flip tmac's old contract into a younger and better player in Kevin Martin. The bolded part of your post makes no sense, why would we be concerned about how NYK made out in the trade? Unless you're a NYC fan, you should only care about what YOUR team is getting, essentially Tmac+Landry for Kmart, Hill and 1st round pick in a very deep draft. From a trading perspective, you really only want to make win-win trades, guys like Jerry West, Pritchard and Joe Dumars who screw their trading partners again and again end up relying purely on their drafting and FA signing skills because no one wants to trade with them. The whole "If Jerry West calls you, take note of the player he wants then unplug the phone" rep sounds great at first, but then you realize you don't have any more teams willing to trade with you. And even if you do look at it from NYC's perspective, realize that they gave up a "bad rookie" and their possible lottery pick next year to sign a dude with uninsured knees to a 100M contract. Now, the so-called "bad rookie" is producing at roughly the same rate as the dude with bad knees and a 100M contract. I'm sure the Knicks fans are gonna feel great next year if they only give up a mid-range first round pick
@roslo JJ=Jared Jeffries. Refresh me again: If the Knicks retain this pick, don't we get their pick again next year with the same protection?
I think he was referring to Jeffries, who we took back for salary reasons. I don't think you could really judge him as a player in that trade per se... Like you said. Martin, Hill 1st rounder is a lot better than Tmac, Landry right now. No question. Some people can't see that we won big in that trade? Seriously? Bottom line is, New York is losing bad. I don't think they got the best of us, by any means.
