My reading and understanding is fine. What I dont understand is where you read she is comparing Deke the Houston Backup with Sam. If thats the question, its still stupid to compare 40 Year old with a 30 year old. So is your answer.Abbreviation didint make it smarter either.

Sam is a good defender but how many DPOY has Sam won? And yes, even the aged version of Mutombo was still an elite rebounder and defender-- he just couldn't play too long without hurting himself.

    That's not true at all.

Mutombo in his prime was not a huge offensive presence, but his offense is absolutely solid.

We're not talking about Deke in his prime. Thread title needs to be edited.

Deek's last full season here per 36, 6.9 pts, 2.8 blocks, 11.6 rebounds.
    SammyD's per 36 this season 12.4 pts, 3.1 blocks, 12.8 rebounds

If you're strictly speaking of Houston's Deek, then you go with Sammy. But career-wise it's no contest Dikembe.

Bonus fun fact Dikembe's full name:
Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean Jacque Wamutombo

I think people are too quick to jump the gun. If your gonna blast someone make sure you know what you are blasting about. Read it all and the last sentence which I quoted for you and others, quite simply says it all.
overall is better then Deke overall.

if its a tiebreaker, would go to Deke just for it. Recycling for the win.

Its hard to say who's better, cuz Deke backed Yao up for like 5 years, and in 4 of those years he didn't play much so

I mean, I doubt Dalembert can sustain his play for 3 years, let alone 5 lol. In terms of being better though, at his very best Dalembert right now does a very good DH impersonation, but backup Deke was more consistent, if he's in the game you know BS won't happen on the court. Plus he's old school, if the layup line is happening on the houston court you the "accidental" killer elbows are gonna happen sooner or later.

If they can only play 20 mins each, I'd say Deke is better. If they can play as much as they want, Dalembert wins no contest. At like 45, Deke would get tired at around the 20 min. mark.

It MIGHT be close if you compare Dalembert's peak with Mutombo's last couple of years (@ 39 and 40 years old) with the Rockets.

When Mutombo was at his peak with Denver, he was comparable to Hakeem on defense, which is WAY above anything Dalembert is on the defensive end.
