.............from the same guy talking about how his dad's dick is shaped and how his basketball and phone skills lead him to a lunch date where he thinks he shouldn't pay with a hot chick.

Go ask a black guy that when you're with your girl. It'll really impress her, far more than paying for a meal would.

Most likely the former. I'm just bent on this concept of reverse-racism. Is there still that much tension that white people must celebrate a month dedicated to people's skin color? Celebrate a person's accomplishment, their integrity, not their skin color

As a black person, I'd say it serves no purpose and depending on our mood and individual racial neuroses, it could be perceived as anywhere from naive and awkward to back-handedly mean-spirited and disrespectful. The good news is that most level-headed blacks will keep this to themselves (WNYMTYNU).

The original intent of Carter G. Woodson when he created the month was to highlight the accomplishments of black Americans, so if you'd actually learned some new facts, it would be polite to go up to a black person you know or were in a confined space with for a long time and tell them about it.

I'll go on record as acknowledging the inherent ridiculousness of being offended by the recognition of a holiday that was created on our behalf.

Socially acceptable? Ask yourself this first...

Would anybody ever wish anybody a happy black history month except to be ironic/snarky/demeaning?

If so, then there is your answer.

The same could be applied to any holiday or commemoration of something that isn't a festival, holiday, etc.

"Happy Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day!"* / "Happy Women's Equality Day!"* Derpppppppppp.

*These are actual recognized days on the US calendar

Not only is it socially acceptable, it's expected. Every day of the month, for every black person that you know. In fact, if you don't wish them a Happy Black History Month, it shows that you don't understand the struggles that they overcame with slavery and Jim Crow.

I really despise the term "reverse-racism"..either its racist or its not. The reverse of racism would be something like inclusiveness...or in some situations even favoritism.

I think it would be a nice gesture for you to handcraft Black History month cards and give one to every black person that you know.

Take vids and post them up later.
