We shouldn't tank until the trade deadline. But if the trade deadline passes with no Dwight, Deron, or any other significant superstar on this roster, we should tank BIG TIME. This squad, as currently constructed, is not a playoff team. We are what our record says we are, an overachieving bunch of mostly hard workers with nary a superstar anywhere on the roster.
Our schedule has been harder than average in the small sample size so far. As the season goes on and the schedule evens out, we'll climb back into the playoffs.
too late too tank, other smart mediocre teams are already far ahead of us. We might as well play now. But i was all for tanking at the beginning of the season. Now even if they tank, they still won't get top 10
When Lowry and Patterson return to their true form we can be more competitive. We need to dump Scola before his value keeps dropping. Scola for wing or front court depth would be great. Or even just cap relief.
This was true when we were 3-7. It's not true anymore. http://espn.go.com/nba/stats/rpi ESPN has us 15th hardest in RPI (i.e. right in the middle), and 17th hardest in SOS (i.e. easier than average).
Can I ask what tanking even means at this point? I mean, at this point there's no effing way we'll fall behind Toronto, Detroit, Charlotte, Washington, Golden State, Sacramento, or New Orleans. So at best? # 8 pick. More realistically something like the number 12 pick if we do go tanking all out.
Seems recently that three of our starters have really hit the wall, bam! Scola. Lowry. Parsons. Maybe the first two are wearing down from carrying the load and Parsons is falling off as they don't give him much to work with, and the NBA load/time in the French league is catching up to him. Whatever the reasons, mediocrity will generally rise and fall and end up exactly where it should be. In this case, the #14 draft pick again. Will Morey find a way to get into an All Star-ish sweepstakes? It's a tough job. Teams don't concede great players. Barring that, does he throw in the white towel at the trade deadline, tanking the season to get into the top 10 of the draft and maybe also wind up with more cap space? It isn't as if he needs to worry about falling much lower in ticket sales at Toyota Center.
I think thats about right - They have beaten the bottom dwellers , won a few I dodnt expect them to and lost most of those to the teams that we expect to be real contenders come playoff time. They have a punchers chance in any game they play because of their defense and .... huffert. But in the long run , I dont give them a snowballs chance in hell of winning a playoff series much less a championship. There are jsut too many teams I think are better. This team has a better chance at finishing 10th or 11th than it does in the top 8. As for the SOS - they havent played Dallas or Utah at all thus far. I believe both of those teams are superior and when they hit a stretch of playing tough teams .... the record will reflect as such. Here's my top 11 in the West , have to include Minny since I think they have the potential to finish ahead of the Rockets and even in the playoffs if they somehow find a competent SG. 1. OKC 2. Denver 3. San Antonio 4. LA Clippers 5. LA Lakers 6. Dallas 7. Portland 8. Utah 9. Memphis 10. Houston 11. Minnesota. I believe the 7 to 11 spots will be seperated by no more than three games at seasons end. All of those teams are evenly matched and equally flawed.
With the 14th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Houston Rockets select Patric Young, a C from the University of Florida...
LMAOO... That's what I'm saying. The Rockets lose a couple of games and people want to jump off bridges, OD, or slit their wrists. The Rockets are a mini winning streak away from the #4 seed again.
