    pretty much.

really, if you're asking black americans to vote for you on the basis of a "shared cultural heritage" is not the reverse equally acceptable? this seems a dangerous, and dangerously divisive, path for the president to tread.

It is traditionally more difficult to get out the black vote than the white vote. Whites, overall, earn more $$$, are more likely to own homes, and, in the end, it's the people who think they have things to lose or to gain that turn up to vote.

You'll also find it more likely (you'll deny this) that, magically, poorer voting districts somehow wind up with fewer voting machines and longer lines....no accident, mind you. When I lived in Brownsville, the lines to vote were grotesque. I guarantee you that the same would not have happened to me here in the Galleria area.

I don't blame Obama for reminding African-Americans to get out there and vote. If they don't show up in force, he'll have a tough time of it. The economy is still so-so and that tends to hang on the incumbent's sleeves pretty heavily.

Hell, Romney just said...oops!...that he doesn't care about the very poor or the very rich (the first part of that statement being what I want to point out) and Gingrich cares more about building a colony on the moon so those darn Chinamen don't do it first. So, they're already speaking to their voting block.

It's fun when my wife shows me the news from her native Brazil about how the Brazilians just trash Gingrich left, right, backward, and forward, when he brought this crap up.

Where did Obama ask, or even imply, that?

Please provide timestamps or quotes, please.

What if Mitt directed a video message to America's white demographic entitled "Caucasian-Americans for Romney?"

If he did it during Caucasian American history month, I'd be ok with it.

When are people going to understand that when you're the majority, you don't get (nor need) messages tailor made for you. That's part of being the majority. It comes with the territory. You are the "default" setting.

Now, do you think Mitt has ever directed a message to Mormons specifically? Gee, I wonder...

I'm sure he has, but that shouldn't irk you... based on your logic, it's socially acceptable for him to cater to Mormons, a minority group, because they're not the "default setting," right?

My point is, I don't support either action, though race and religion are two different topics... one being much more controversial.

This would have been a perfect thread to have zero responses. Nobody should have even bothered. Let's try on basso's next thread.

basso can post all the incorrect statements and claims he wishes. No one takes anything he posts seriously, even when you know his post is full of holes, inaccurate and easy to disprove (almost everything be posts fits into that pattern) it only helps him when you reply.

I don't always read basso posts, but when I do, it is because I forgot to log on.

In all actuality, Barack has very little in common with the vast majority of blacks in America. He was raised by whites, lived in Indonesia and Hawaii (very few blacks share that geographic upbringing) and went to elite schools (high school, college) growing up.

Do speak for yourself, Blade. It allows the rest of us to feel part of the conversation.
