They get recognition when they help their team win an NBA Championship. ASG is strictly PR.

I cannot rep, you have to spread my goodies around, so says the laws of the "Clutch Fans" universe.

It was in the same year that Jameer Nelson, Rashard Lewis, and Mo Williams made the team. There were more deserving players out there. AI and Wallace being two of them, better overall and they aren't necessarily boring players to watch either.

If you wanted to go with excitement angle ... Josh Smith and Vince Carter.

If you wanted to go with a really solid point guard . . . Jose Calderon or upcoming Derrick Rose.

It could've used another center ... Emeka Okafor

It's an exhibition game. You're not making a team to win. This question is more relevant towards the USA team (which they more or less dealt with already).

Andre Igoudala and Gerald Wallace, I could understand as both are very good players, borderline all-stars, and probably amongst the best players at their position (over time and currently) - top 5 to 8.

They are highlight reel room regulars.

    Absolutely not.

It's called an all-star game for a season. We want stars in this game, not some hustle player who has trouble scoring 20 ppg even if unguarded.

They should have a Shane Battier Memorial All-Glue Game. Sideshows include a Charge Taking contest and a Scoring without Being Noticed contest.

    Glue Skills Contest?

    -Taking charges
    -Tipping rebounds to a teammate
    -Smart fouling
    -When to take a timeout

    What else?

It would be more like a trivia contest.

    - holding the ball instead of launching a half court shot at the end of the half to keep the shooting percentage up.

    How about this -

Fans vote a Non All Star as the two all stars and they draft teams from the whole pool.

But you have to make it look like you were trying to shoot it in tim. Battier would win that one.

    Haha. Cracking me up.

Why don't we just have fans vote random fans to play in the All-star game?

    NO, NOT at all.

Thats MUCH worse than the baseball "Every Team AUTOMATICALLY Has An All Star" approach. Along with the "This Time, IT COUNTS" Winner Gets World Series home field advantage approach.

After all the PRE-All Star Gam weekend gimmicks going on of celeb games and HORSE and 2-ball and fixed dunk contests, I can't wait to see REAL pure stars. I don't want to see Jared Jeffries missing layups and overcompensating with "putting his hands up on defense " on the other end.
