It will either become a full-fledged failed state, or it will become a dictatorship with a theocracy behind doors aka it will/is becoming an iranian puppet. Taking out Saddam, imo, was the right thing to do, he was dangerous to his people and the world, he had been involved in weapon productions and use against his own people before and should have been ousted long ago. However, in his wake came the extremist who were kept in check by saddam's ba'athist party. Which in turn effected the safety of the region's christian minorities. Now iraq suffers from an insurgancy their government is too weak to fight. Leaving Iraq will cause more harm in the long run to both their country and our interests in the country as well. I hope I am wrong because one day I really want to visit Baghdad. Also hope things work out in Syria ASAP because I am supposed to go visit next summer and would hate to have to cancel another trip because of the region's problems.
