Seem that this post, and this thread, is evidence that excessive fructose consumption also leads to mental r****dation.

Malted grains like barley, etc. It breaks them down into sugar. But you don't need to add any extra sugar; like i said, it's a byproduct.

it's only restricted in school cafeterias.

Away from school you can still have ketchup on your Royal with Cheese. But you have to order it in metric.

I disagree with this article. No duh sugar is bad for you, that's why when I was little my parents raised me eating healthy meals. If they want to make public service adds to educate people that's fine, but taxing it is dumb. You can't punish everyone because there are people out there who have no reason to have children if they don't know how to teach them good eating habits, and teach them to play sports when they are little.

Now here comes the argument "some neighborhoods don't have access to healthy foods"... Well maybe instead of trying to put taxes and regulations on products like sugar the government worried about getting rid of the gangsters in that area, grocery stores could be opened there.

    I agree sugar is horrible.

It's probably the main reason people are so fat, though that hasn't been proven.

i'm for this. i hope it doubles the price of all cookies, crackers, snack cakes, ice cream, and other nutrient-deficient foods packed with sugar. you wanna 12 pack of sprite? $9, mistuh. by the way, you know there's this thing called water, and it's free from your faucet!

Why punish people who can enjoy sodas or snack cakes responsibly?

Because a healthier populace benefits everybody. I'm willing to pay an unadjusted market price, or even a little bit more, for my twinkies. The indirect benefits are definitely worth it. There's a difference, btw, between something sweet and something that is nothing but empty calories.

From a very amateur home-brewer: How does bottled beer normally get its carbonation? When I've brewed my own beer, I had to add sugar before bottling to get the carbonation.

I understand the difference between something sweet and empty calories. I'm all for a healthier populace too, but regulating private parts of people's lives when many are able to eat responsibly is entering dangerous territory.
