that was impressive Irving, Major points. Its a two man Race. I like Rubio better, but Irving is playing great ball, he is also having the help of playing with all veterans, some of who have finals experience. This is a defintely helpful in spacing the court and spreading it for him, Rubio's team is young, but he is doing great. Irving is a much better scorer now, Rubio is better at everything else
Both guys have a legitimate shot at it, and I honestly would have no problem whatsoever with either one winning it the way they are playing so far this season. I'd have to give the slight edge to Rubio right now, but Irving is really starting to figure it out.
I love how everyone hated on Rubio when he was overseas, and now that he is here your all on his dick. I knew Rubio would be special. Jason kidd couldn't shoot either early on, and he was still a great defender and gifted passer, much like Rubio.
18 ppg on 28 mpg on .597 TS% for a teenage rookie point guard? That is UNHEARD of. He's having a better rookie year than Chris Paul and possibly the best rookie year by a PG ever. Ridiculous.
Magic's rookie season 18/7/7 with TS% .61 and 20.6 PER Irving 22/4/6 with TS% .597 and 22.6 PER Paul's rookie season 16/5/7 with TS% .546 and 22.1 PER didn't feel like posting all the stats, but Kyrie's current rookie season is definitely great in comparison by the numbers.
As more as the season progress, I get a feeling that this year it will be double ROY. Like in 99/00 season (I think) when francis shared ROY with brand. Do you think it's possible this year?
Magic Johnson, NBA Champion and Finals MVP as a Rookie Irving team is not even 0.500 on leastern conference Do not deserve a mention
Yeah it's not like Magic Johnson had freaking Kareem Abdul Jabbar in his prime and a slew of great offensive players like Jamaal Wilkes, Norm Nixon, and one of the greatest defenders of all time in Michael Cooper on his team or anything Who does Irving have? Jamison? Look, what Magic Johnson did in the playoffs and the Finals that year is amazing and is forever a part of the NBA lore, but let's not pretend he did it by himself. Regular season-wise, it is not absurd to say Irving and Paul had better rookie seasons than Magic as a PG. (Not to mention, I don't really consider Magic as a true PG anyways, just a 6'9" guard-forward who happen to dominate the game with his passing, Magic was as much a PG as Lebron was a PG in his rookie year).
You should be banned for life even for a mention any unproven rookie from a garbage team alongside Magic Johnson and his rookie season. It was a dominant showdown from one of the greatest players and leaders of all-time and nobody will ever come from the NCAA title to an NBA Title next year with that MVP Trophy's in the living room
How do you fault a guy for being on a bad team if it's not because of him the team is bad? I would venture to say if you put a rookie Magic Johnson on the current Cavs team and the results would be similar.
